Then x+y = 24

Chickem has 2 legs thus total legs possesed by the Chickens in the group = 2x

Pigs have 4 legs, Thus total legs possesed by Pigs in the Group
=4y

Thus second eqaution thus +

2x+4y = 80 ------------------Equation 2

Thus 2x+2y = 48 multiplying both sides of Eqation No 1 by 2

Thus solving 2x + 4y = 80
2x+2y =48

y=16

therefore x =24-16 = 8

There fore Chickens 8, Pigs = 16

Answer : Chickens = 8 and Pigs = 16
