My neighbor is an obnoxious elderly (a little deranged) man. For example, his method of getting my other neighbor's pugs to stop barking is to throw a lawn chair at them and he has stickers of a handgun on all his windows-- that's his security system. At any rate, fall is here and he gets up early every day to leaf blow all the leaves on his property onto the street and my property. Since I am on the corner, cleaning the leaves out of the street and my sidewalk becomes my problem. He generally does it between the hours of 8 and 10 am when those of us with jobs aren't home.

He already gets a minor perk from me in that I just moved there and have not gotten around to putting up a fence between mine and his property and so he has a free parking spot.

How do I deal with this guy given that he is weird and barely speaks english well. Do towns have any regulations that prevent people from blowing their leaves in the street?

Well I learned from another neighbor that my township does not sweep leaves off of the street. As for being polite to him, when I first moved in I tried to say hi when I passed him on the street etc and all I got was a scowl. I think I have been nice enough already. He parks on half of my driveway for free and watches me do yardwork, probably to make sure I don't leave trash on our shared walkway.

OH OF course... there are laws againist a person from blowing his leaves, etc into the street and/or onto other people's yards... I have had two incidents in the past where the lawn care people(Mexicans) would blow a peson's yard and it went into others yards.. the adjoining neighbor called the police and the police cited the owner of the one property for allowing his workers to blow leaves onto another neighbor's yard...Thus, that is what you should do particularly if he is obnoxiious and probably can not be talked to.. If he was a nice person, then the approach would be to talk to him.. but in your case, I doubt if that would do any good.... Of course, you could always shoot him

Some towns do have ordinances preventing people from blowing leaves into the street--they can cause a traffic problem when wet. Before you involve authorities, though, why don't you try going nextdoor and talking to him. You could end up with a friend rather than en enemy. There is alot to be said for diplomacy!!!

Yesterday, someone came into my office yelling about their bill, and by the time they left, I had everything I wanted, and they were laughing! Why? I talked to them in a calm and friendly way, and made a real effort to listen to what they had to say. Now, this doesn't work all the time, but what could I have accomplished if I told her to shut up and get out of my office? Nothing! I'd have an upset client, and still not gotten what I needed out of the woman. There is a way you can solve your problem with your neighbor with only a minor amount of unpleasantness.

Being that you said he barely speaks English, I am going to assume that he is a foreigner. People in America do not realize that in most country's having enough property to accrue leaves in and have driveways is unheard of. The only way people in their country get things like this is to take them. I spent a summer in Madrid and the people there have the mentality of "kill or be killed." I he is that big of a problem, then tell him first. If he blows you off or get nasty with you, then start blowing his leaves back into his yard, maybe he will get the hint. If you wish to go the legal route, you can send him a bill for the the amount to pick the leaves up. If he choses not to pay for it, then you take him to small claims court, but make sure you have pictures and evidence. You can also have his cars towed when they park in your yard. When I came back from Spain, the family I stayed with came back with me. I worked for them while I was in Spain and did what they said because I was their guest. They took advantage of me while I was there because I was the foreigner. When we got here, they tried to do the same thing, but once I got legal with them, they stopped and went back to Spain.

Most municipalities WANT you to blow leaves in the street so the street cleaners can collect them... You better check on that one.

Build a fence, buy some gun stickers, better yet buy a gun... Then learn to speak his language (the profanity part). If you don't end up shooting each other, justice has prevailed.

that is how all people is nowadays. If you attempt to properly ask them to difference their habits, they take into account it an identical to slapping them within the face. Everyone i do know who has requested their buddies to difference their habits, has in view that been a sufferer of malice, vandalism, hateful assaults, and all process of unpleasantness, as you describe. The motive is that our society has been destroyed through forty or 50 years of men and women like obama and different democraps who believe that the one factor predominant in lifestyles is to have an orgasm, get top, and watch TV and films produced through atheist anti-american jews.

Yes they do. I actually complained about that previously. However the landscaping machines are not allowed to be used after sunset nothing preventing them from using it in the morning

Kill him with kindness. Ask if you can hire him to blow the leaves off your yard, too.

That's where they are supposed to be so the township can sweep them up.

Stop being a bad neighbor, your attitude is typical of young, belligerent, and moronic people who think they should be able to control what others do. Move!
