they need to earth themselves by touching the ground or they need to create a circuit by touching another wire at the same time...

When the bird lands on the power line the electrical potential or voltage is equal therefore it passes through the bird body with no ill effect.
However should it touch something that is to a grounding source then the bird would be electrocuted.
This is exactly the same as how the power line workers do when changing or testing the electrical supply network

They do not because the electricity can not go anywhere as long as they sit on one wire.
They would need to touch something else connected to the earth for the power to be able to flow through them and release energy (electrocution).
If a stork had long enough legs to stand on the ground with one foot and on a ire ith the other, he would get electrocuted.
Touching the metal pylon and a wire at the same time would also cause electrocution. This dos not apply to birds, but to any living being - but only birds do get up there to sit on power lines.

Because electricity always travels along the path of least resistance. It's easier for the electrons to keep flowing throw the power line than through the bird's feet, that's why the bird doesn't get electrocted.

Because the birds are not earthed. If they touched the ground at the same time then they would get shocked.

When i was at school a boy in my class asked if it was because they had rubber feet......well im hoping no one else is silly enough to ask that question!

Because they touch only one wire at a time. However if a bird was holding a long straw in its beak, and the straw touched another wire or any grounded object, the bird would be instantly electrocuted.

Because they're not touching another power line or the ground. If you were hanging from a power line and not touching anything else you wouldn't be electrocuted either.

I think you may mean electrocuted. Either because they have never been to school and therefore don't know anything about electricity or that they are poor conductors of electricity until they come into contact with the ground.

because they are not earthed to the ground and as long as they dont touch the ground they are fine. The same would happen if you touched the power line as long as you are not earthed out to the ground.

The simple answer to this question is that they are not earthed if they were touching the ground at the same time they would be electrocuted

Because they do not complete a circuit by making contact between any of the nearby neutral - earthing - live cables ,which would make a current flow through them
