Well, they're two completely different breeds. If you like more active dogs, then pick the rottie. Dogue de Bordeaux are active as pups but they tend to become very very mellow as adults. They're guard dogs but also couch-potatoes :) Here's a bit more info:
Dogue de Bordeaux: Breeders have softened the temperament of this dog quite a bit from his original ferocity. Today the Bordeaux has a good and calm temperament. It is extremely loyal, patient and devoted to his family. Fearless and confrontational with strangers, he is a first class watch and guard dog. This breed can be very aggressive with other dogs. Socialize very well with other animals from an early age. The Dogue de Bordeaux snores and drools. Males will not tolerate other males. Despite his fearsome appearance, the Dogue de Bordeaux is gentle with children and family members. However this is a powerful animal, and is not suitable for an inexperienced dog owner. As of a few years ago a Dogue de Bordeaux puppy cost approximately $1200-2000.
Rottie: The Rottweiler can be a very fun loving dog, however he is very powerful and can be serious at times. Early obedience training and socialization is a must. This breed can be very territorial and protective of their family and their environment. Rottweilers can be very intimidating, still retaining an undeserving reputation as a vicious and/or mean dog, however they do extremely well in a family environment. The temperament of the Rottweiler can vary. Some can be very affectionate and somewhat of a clown, while others can be bullies. It is critical that this breed is socialized at an early age. Rottweilers can do well with children if raised around them, but should be supervised around small children due to their sheer size and power. The Rottweiler can do well around other dogs, however can be somewhat combative and can show aggression if not socialized properly as this is a very protective breed of both their family and their territory.
They're both breeds that need early socialization or it will be hard to take them places and let them play with either people and/or dogs. Good luck!
P.S. You can find rottie puppies in local shelters very easily! Not only you'll save tons of money but you'll also save a life.

having two rottie dogs would make you rather formidable walking down the road (I love big dogs but there has been so many reports of poorly trained animals that people are automatically weary).
Is the Douge De Bordeaux that huge french sheepdog? if so I'd say get one of those to go with your other dog. They are not very common in this country but I think are absolutely gorgeous & have tons of power and size behind them.
I would get the Douge dog simply because it is so hard to find them in this country.
I do not think it make any difference in the breed of dog you get to accompany your other dog, just your other dog is male try not to get another male then you could have a nasty problem.
I own 2 crossbreeds and they get on fine with each other, one is 6 years and the other is 10 months!!
good luck with your new family addition

If I were you, as I already had a Rottie, I'd have a Douge de Bordeaux.
The website I found gives one caution ... about male dogs - it recommends that there be a large age gap between them ... here's the link so that you can read it for yourself.
http://www.dogue.co.za/site/awdep.asp?dealer=5621&depnum=8733
The only other things that I would consider is the availability of Douge puppies, their price (ie how much spare cash I had) & how far I'd have to travel to get one from a good breeder.
I've just had a browse of the ePupz site - they seem to range from £650 to £1,250 & seem to be readily available - whereas Rottie puppies start at £200.
If you visit the UK Kennel Club website then it gives advice on buying a puppy & you can browse for puppies available by accredited breeders.

Finally, try the Champdogs Site if you are looking for a breeder of show quality puppies.

This site also has a list of Clubs.

Please go and get a puppy from the Humane Society or another shelter, do you know how many homeless puppies are put to sleep every year in the United States-the number is staggering!Mixed breed pups have less health problems than pure bred. I am sure if you go there and see all the little faces you will find one to fall in love with, and the staff is so helpful, they can help you decide which pup would be best for you. And you would be saving a life instead of putting a lot of cash in a breeders pocket. Just think about it.

Find out more about both breeds (and others too) before you select your puppy. Make sure you know exactly what you are doing with a dog of that breed, both it's puppy and adult requirements. There's loads of books in the library or bookshop.
If you can then say, hand on heart, that you know and can meet those needs go ahead and get a dog.
Speak to the kennel club for advice on selecting a breeder, and also for advice on how to care for the puppy and adult dog.

I'm sure you don't need telling that a problem dog is no fun to have around, especially when that dog is a powerful one - so you need to get the pups from a breeder you can trust.

Do some homework on the breeds and take time to find out which breeds best fits you.
Read as much as you can before deciding, these are living breathing animals.
Go to Discover dogs this week end at Earls Court, talk to the owners and breeders of these breeds.
