No! What the heck is wrong with you sorry son for even asking you to do so? Refinance and give him his share. Depending on your age you may want to consider a reverse mortgage. AARP has info. on reverse mortgage.

If your son is 1/4 owner, the other 3/4 would have to agree to sell the home before it could be sold.

In no way should you ever call this person by the name you used "son" this boy has many problems and one is thinking of himself and his needs prior to his mothers. Cut all ties with this human sponge and move on.

he could take you to court and try to have the judge order you to buy his 1/4 share out, but he must convince the judge he has a "good reason for asking this" and knowing that most judges will look at this as we are, your son is asking you to do what? Not knowing the value of your real estate, if you think you can't afford to buy him out then you may look into cashing in a life insurance policy, or refinance.

I for one would rather buy him out and end this relationship until he gets his priorities in order and starts acting as your son and not a ex-husband. Reading your story just bring all my anger to the brink of bursting out in an uncontrollable speed. You two have underlying problem here and I would recommend that you two fix them.

Try to convince him that if he cashes his share in he’ll be loosing any growth of his interest in said real estate, and with the house market going up at a steady rate he’ll be missing out on a large amount, best of luck with this problem you two have and remember, you gave birth to him, and in the wild mother will from time to time eat their own when needed, I see this as time to.

No, he can't make you sell. He may be able to take you to court and force you to compensate him for his share of the house. What kind of son do you have? The would make you sell your house just to get money?

No he can't! Why would he want to? I'd see if there was a way to take him to court to have him written out of the will. him! How dare he treat his own Mother that way!
