Give him homeopathic medicines. It's safe for animals with no side effects and gives fast relief.
Rhus Tox 1m (once a day in milk or water)
Calcarea Carb 1m (once a day in milk or water)
Ruta 200 (once a day)
Hypericum 10m (once after 3-4 days)

They make arthritis medicine for dogs. You can get the good stuff at the vet or go to walmart. My mother has a dog with severe arthritis and it seems to help him out. If your dog is overweight, work on that too. It will really help him and his joints.

Your vet would be the source for this information. I know some OTC meds can be used on animals, but I don't know which ones. I'd give your vet a call.

Go on line to DrsFosterSmith.com you can buy everything from arthritis medication to beds especially for dogs with arthritis. They also have stairs to help your dog get on the bed if he sleeps with you. Hope this helps.

Check with your vet, but I have used Bufferin on my German Shep before for his back legs, but ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR VET- don't give your dog anything that someone onlie would suggest. My vet's assistant would give advise over the phone so it wouldn't' cost you anything.
