My husband is a multiple myeloma patient. His IgG was over 7000 when diagnosed. It is down to 435. Normal is 650-1100 we heard. What are the risks with low IgG?
Thanks so much

Not much if anything. Albumin provides most of the osmotic balance, so no problem of edema. In theory, I suppose it could put him at very slightly increased risk of a few types of infection, but probably not in reality. It does not hurt to get the abnormal protein out of there, as it does no good anyway (non functional).

If you don't mind me asking, how did they get it down? Chemo or plasmapheresis?
