Hi,
I need to write my own "Philosophy of Ministrty", and I don't know how to begin. I'll use my own thoughts, but don't want to say too much, or too little. I looked all over the Internet for a basic outline of what should be included, but couldn't find any samples. Could someone send me a link of an outline, OR just let me know the general format? Thank you so much.

I am a second year seminarian.

If it is YOUR philosophy of ministry then I would ask what YOU feel ministry involves. Is it practical (evangelism, visiting the sick, pastoral care), theoretical (theology, teaching, preaching), something else, or some combination? Take a look at Matthew 28 for the 'Great Commission'. How does that apply to ministry for you? You may want to look to Paul and see what he had to say as well.

All the best to you.

I'm not a Pastor but was curios so I hope you don't mind my 2 cents. I would begin or at least include Paul's instruction to Timothy and Titus as these are the Apostle teaching and training the ministers of the church. He also gives a summary in 2 Cor 5.

Start with an exhortation many students ignore:
"Evangelist, make FULL PROOF of thy ministry".
If you can't fully prove it, then it's just a theory.
Now faith: Hebrews 11 is based on "evidence".
Evidence is what makes something "evident".
Blind faith doesn't attract thinking ppl anymore.
And the internet is chuck full of thinking ppl now.

Then look at a quote from the Bible Translators:
"it is preposterous order to teach first, learn after"
Scriptures are written for our "learning": Rom 15:4.
Go "learn" what meaneth Mt 9:13, in Hebrews 10.

And do real-ize how "many" ministers ignored this:
Evil Concupiscence: it's now 'exposing' ministers;
Not just RC priests, but Protestant ministers too.
If you don't know about it, you'll become a victim.
John 8:32 isn't about believe-ing, but "know"-ing.
For "believe"-ing is what "devils" do: James 2:19.

Also note Paul The Apostle didn't go to any bible college,
but as "his witness unto all men", plays the "last trump":

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ WITH YOU ALL. AMEN.

I would recommend the pastoral letters of Paul to you (1. + 2. Timothy, Titus). There you'll find all, what is required of a christian minister. If this is not enough for you, check out the following website about comments on bible passages:

Try searching for a format for educational philosophy or something to that effect, but let God give you the words. Hope this helps. May God bless your journey.

One rule I always remember is that no matter what a person does, they are a child of God, and that makes them my brother/sister.
