Better to rule in hell than serve in heaven? Given the rep. of Lucifer how do they think they will rule anything? Lucifer doesnt share power or give respect so how could anyone believe in this phrase? All thoughts welcome.

Its a quote from Milton's "Paradise Lost" actually. It refers to the fall of Lucifer. He prefered the option of ruling in hell to being ruled by God in heaven.

The line came from Milton's poem, "Paradise Lost." Satan, being thrown into the pit cries out to God, "T'is better to rule in hell than serve in heaven."

Sometimes people use this phrase metaphorically to signify that they would rather be free to do as they wish, even if that freedom results in making mistakes, than to do everything right at the expense of being told what to do by others.

Human spirit is very sacred as been revealed in every divine Religion. When a person commits a sin, his spirit feels the pain of disobeying God....there is another part of human that love and cherish worldly pleasures....

Lucifier's sentence is telling about his mental state where he is providing his own self with a lame excuse to lul the conciousness which was hamering him of his wrong doings and that one day he has to be held accountable before God.

Dude, it's just an expression that means it's better to be in authority in a less desirable place than to be in a position of subservience in a more desirable place. Don't take things so literally.

Besides, there is no such entity as Lucifer. The idea of Lucifer or Satan is just a representation of that part of human nature that leads us to engage in wrongdoing instead of doing what we know is right. That capacity exists in each of us - not in a fictitious being.

LOL, nice NICE point. For one tihng Lucifer (as you stated) ain't going to share any of the so called "glory" with anyone. Secondly, Lucifer willl NOT be ruling anything. Lucifer will be locked up for a thousand years to be released for a short time, then sent to the fire pits of hell. He will be burning along with the rest of the lost.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Partly it's just en expression so get a grip. And partly it's a statement as to the clear uselessness of God if he truly exists in the Christian context,as in live the life I want you to or go to hell, and even if you get to Heaven the best you can hope for is an eternity of bended knee subservience. So suffer for all eternity or slavery all eternity in Heaven,so perhaps it's a jovial expression of the futility of the whole proposition.

And may I take this moment to say to the first answerer that if you plan on calling others fools,at least have the intelligence to get close to the spelling,or hit the spell check. Typical Christian idiocy, can't even spell but want to call others names.

Quite true. They are elevating themselves upon no good basis and for no reason. People with that attitude have a serious problem with Gods authority and will do anything to not be subject to it.

You hangin out with some rough guys there
I wouldn't have friends like that
Satan gives us what we want...if its riches we get riches...if its sexy hot girls ..yes you get it...if its power..he allows you to have power...then..just when you think you have the world by the tail...the devil dashes you to the ground. He takes everything from you.
He doesn't want you to be happy...he just wants to ruin your relationship with God.
Once you have no where to go..he doesn't want you either
