18:50 Behold! We said to the angels, "Bow down to Adam": They bowed down except Iblis. He was one of the Jinns, and he broke the Command of his Lord. Will ye then take him and his progeny as protectors rather than Me? And they are enemies to you! Evil would be the exchange for the wrong-doers!

acording to the above verse
the command was not directed at satan but at the angels only.
satan was not an angel but ajinn
So he never broke any command.
it is like:
THE TEACHER CAME TO THE CLASS AND SAID: I WANT ALL THE BOYS TO STAND UP. ALL THE BOYS STOOD UP EXCEPT FATUMA.SHE WAS ONE OF THE GIRLS AND SHE BROKE THE COMMAND OF THE TEACHER.
now what command has fatuma broken?
Can the teacher punish fatuma for not standing up?
so in the same way what command has SATAN broken when the command was not directed at him.
And how can he be punished ?
Thanks

Well the problem lies at the way the verse is translated and the way the english language understand the word 'malaaika' otherwise translated as angels.

The word malaaika included all of the creatures who were obeying God, and Iblees(the name used for satan) was one of the obeyers until he decided not to obey.

Also..God did not punish satan per se...satans punishment will be to burn in hell for all eternity at Judgement Day.

Satan and God had a conversation and the conversation ended with:

1. Satan claiming that he was better than the human, and would prove it by suggesting evil and letting humans show their weakness and disloyalty to God by listening to Satan.

2. Satan requesting a certain amount of time to go down to earth and seduce as many number of people as he can as followers and prove that humans are weak.

3. God allowing satan to do as he pleased on earth, and saying that those who have full faith in Him, will not follow satan.

the end.

Well Friend I am not a Muslim But a Christian, But to how you how wrong the quran is, God is the only oNE that I bow down to, Muslims teach that they bow down to Adam, why should they bow down to Adam, he was not God. now as far as satan is concerned, Yes Satan was a rightous angel in heaven until iniquity was found in him & God cast him out of heaven & all his angels with him, that try to establish themselves higher than God. There is some evil angels that was chained & reserved until day of Judgement. 2nd. Peter 2:4 Why were they chained, because they done something that God would not allow it to happen again, That is why THE BRIDE OF JESUS SHALL JUDGE ANGELS

Only Humans and Jinns have the power of free will. God commanded everyone to bow to Adam yet the devil(jinn) refuse abiding to his free will. In matter of fact thats how God want it to be. This is His Will and Only He know the exact reason. Everything has been planned by Him to every detail couse He is the ULTIMATE PLANNER.

Allah(swt)(God) Is Almighty, All Merciful All Knowing Know which we know not.

Satan is the adversary of God. Thus, Satan is evil personified. Many followers of the Bible consider Satan to be a real being, a spirit created by God. Satan and the other spirits who followed him rebelled against God. They were allegedly cast out from Heaven by their Creator. Theologians might speculate as to why the Almighty did not annihilate the "fallen angels," as He is said to have done to his other creations when they failed to be righteous (save Noah and his family, of course). Satan was allowed to set up his own kingdom in Hell and to send out devils to prowl the earth for converts. The demonic world seems to have been allowed to exist for one purpose only: to tempt humans to turn away from God. Why God would allow Satan to do this is explained in the Book of Job, where Satan is described as an angel who works in cahoots with God. When Job asks why God let Satan torment him the answer is blunt and final: Hath thou an arm like the Lord? The story of Job is interpreted in many different ways by theologians but my interpretation is that nobody knows why God lets Satan live and torment us. God is God and can do whatever He wants. Ours is not to question why, ours is but to do and die.

Satan, being a spirit, is neither male nor female. However, like his Creator, Satan is usually referred to as a masculine being. Many believe that Satan, or the Devil as he is often called, can "possess" human beings. Possession is bodily invasion by the devil. The Catholic Church still performs exorcisms on those considered to be possessed. Jesus is said to have cast out demons, i.e., performed exorcisms, and the Church considers itself to have been given this same power by Jesus. Throughout the centuries, many pious religious people have erroneously considered those with certain mental or physical illnesses to be possessed by Satan.

More frequent than outright possession, however, has been the accusation of being in consort with the devil. Satan is believed to have many powers, among them the power to manifest himself in human or animal form. The consorting has been recorded as often being purely physical and mostly sexual. For most of the history of Christianity there are reports of Satan having sex with humans, either as an incubus (male devil) or succubus (female devil). Witches and sorcerers were thought by many to be the offspring of such unions. They are considered especially pernicious because they inherit some of the devil's powers.

According to Carl Sagan, accounts of diabolical intercourse are common cultural phenomena

its i just took from a website, you can read more over at http://skepdic.com/satan.html further more that was said to all those who were present at that moment, you need to know whole story about satan, his name was Azazeel, he was most precious in those times, on earth there is no 4 inch left where he didnt prayed on on.... and when Allah started to creat the adam, he asked to angels if whats going on? Angels told him that Allah is creating this man, who will be next to him... they were knew Allah will ask them to bow down infront of Adam,. he said if Allah would say this he will not do it.... and when that day came, Allah ask everybody who were present on that moment, to Bow down to Adam everybody did, except satan, and he was kicked out...
further more the commands you are saying.... like if i come to a class room and without saying i say " stand up" so everybody is included.... who is present on that moment.... either girl or boy... Allah said to Bow down to Adam, not only to angles, but everybody who was present that moment...
its based on my best of knowledge, as human is name of error, if anything wrong i will correct it and will study more about it, my email is pakimran@yahoo.com just send me a email, i will do some research on it and send it to you...
