The reason is because Muslims are required to "clean" themselves with water after they are done going to the washroom. Do you get my drift? And thank you for being so respectful with your question.

It is for water conservation and it is a practice used by people other than Muslims as well. The volume displaced by the bottle reduces the amount that goes into the cistern and that reduces how much they use on each flush.

It not only conserves water (helping us all) it also reduces your water bill. It's also cheaper than buying a new flusher; just use any object that takes up space. I've heard of people putting bricks in for the same effect.

I can't believe how many racist, hateful, and vile people are here, by the way. Someone asks an honest question and you use it to show your ignorance and hate. Pathetic.

The Bottle is not empty (unless it floats). Its filled with water and left in the tank to take up space, saving water in the tank. Toilet tanks don't need a ton of water to float, and after a while - the savings on one's water bill is significant.

Of course we have a space saver toilet so, we don't have to do that. I am not Muslim by the way, so its not a Muslim thing but a frugal one.

Tom my's got this one. It's not just Muslims though.. it's very common in S.E. Asia to rinse instead of using toilet paper (that's personal experience talking.. imagine walking into a bathroom and there's a toilet, a squirter, and that's it - or even worse, a hole in the ground and a hose).

The empty botte decreases the amout of water that the toilet uses by taking up space in the tank.

It is to save water, the bottle takes up some of the space and then the toilet will not fill to the top

Muslims are washing the private part, hands, gargling water, washing nose.head, ears, forearms, feet's to prepare there selves for prayer without that the prayer won't be acceptable, and if suppose any gas or urine or stool u passed before that time of prayer u need to repeat the same order of washing, for ur knowledge the prayer is five times a day.each time the person must be clean.

is there not a large pot along side of bottle?well in case of bombing attack they can pick up these 2 items to use when the water goes off or when they have to move to underground sites to avoid being wounded or killed and those items will be use to urinate and defecate in.

I'm afraid you'll need to ask them, Sir.

However, the other gentleman might just have answered your question.

Perhaps they use it to wash when they're done?

Do have a nice day.
