I have always had rather boring small cars e.g. pegueots and VW's, and am looking for somthing a bit different now. I would reaqlly like a Defender but am worried about running costs and increased tax due to enviromental issues. So I what I would really like is an older bigger car which would be cheap and really rialable somthing like an old rover 400 or a mercedes 190E, can anyone help me, suggestions on a rialable cheap four door salon cars from around the 1990's but somthing a bit different would be very helpfully thanks

Not too sure about the other cars, but pass on the MB 190E. I had a 1994 and even though it was a nice car, ran well and was - you know- a MERCEDES..... it was nothing but trouble. That particular model was MB`s 1st venture into a downsized market and wasn`t a very good car. Just my opinion.

Advice stay away from foreign older/used cars maint. expense will drain your $ fast... I still have a 1994 Buick Lesabre Limited 4 door sedan, V6, auto, power everything, ac, all leather the works bought it used for 6500.00 about 6 yrs ago and even today it runs like a champ..maint. is minimal..easy on gas..great power and I am happy with it..I use it as my primary driving car.I do have a newer SUV but I like this old thing I drive it everyday and would not trade it for nothing..very dependable..remeber big luxury cars eat gas I have had them won't go back..stay away from the 95 thru 99 lincoln town cars alot of problems with them..and you can get them cheap now..Look into the mid to late 90's for a crown vic and check it out..you can find some good ones in great shape and they run good, look good, easy on gas although maint. can sometimes be a problem. I guess it depends on what kind of bigger car you want..I am very partial to the Buick's..I have had 4 as a seond car over the years and I have been very satisfied..Matter of fact I am thinking of trading the SUV for a new Buick Lesabre Limited. I think you would be well severed in the buick dept.. no matter what you do..Please take it to someone you trust for a COMPLETE maint. check. like everything..Good Luck to you..walked in your shoes, know what you're looking for..Keep looking you will find it..PS buick century great car, mercury sabel good car..Check Comsumer Report on used vehicles for their reviews..they are not funded by the auto industry and I find their comments and ratings to be right on the money..alot of their ratings come from private owners of vehciles.
