Yeah, it's a bad thing. I felt it beating pretty hard as I was trying to go to sleep last night. But then again, I've been going through a lot of crap lately. Do some regular cardio workouts, that usually helps me. For a more long-term solution, go to a doc (obviously) and eat healthier. Just FYI here, eat fish. Lots of omega 3 in there that's good for your heart. The average lifespan of a Japanese male (in Japan, not on the other side of the Pacific) is 92. Something they ate perhaps?

i know what u mean, u can feel it more when lying down with no noise. i went to the doctor and had these sticky things put all over my chest to look at my heart rate. she put it down to anxiety, and i also get a little extra beat here and there. it feels weird but in my case is all good by the doc. if u are worried it is best to go see the dr.

A pounding heartbeat can be a sign of something more serious. If this is occurring when you are at rest then yes there is a problem. If you are feeling this when you are doing something strenuous like working out then it's not that uncommon for you to feel a pounding heartbeat.

if u r exercising, or in stress, or watching horror movies, then it is ok.
however, if u r middle age, man, overweight, hypertensive, diabetics, high cholesterol, heavy smoker, have heart disease, then it is not ok. palpitation is also alarming if u have it only after doing mild activity. watch out for any chest pain especially the crushing type "elephant on my chest".
why dont u get your blood pressure, and cholesterol level checked? :D
