hi :] blah! i know the soreness kills :P the soreness will go away in about a week. two weeks max (rare) try taking ibuprofen, advil or tylenol those will help with the soreness. you prob. cant eat much right now because your teeth feel all sensitive so stick with really soft things because there's no use in trying to bite down:P try: -jello -mac&cheese -noodles -yogurt -mashed potato -slushies -maybe really soft frech fries and anything else around those lines. i don't really know what PSSA's are but they sound like a test. take one of the medicines (i mentioned above) before you go to school. ibuprofen last for 6-7 hours:] but don't worry the pain will go away and you'll be back to normal. and keep in mind that all the pain is worth a beautiful colgate smile in the end:D hope this helped -andrea<3

I'm having the same problem too! I just got mine fitted last week and my teeth and jaw were killing me. Try ice cream it helped me quite alot. Also have a hot bath and relax infront of the tv to taqke your mind off things. If the pain doesn't ease after a week, tell your dentist i'm sure they will be able to help you. Good Luck hope you feel better soon x

one medicine with the generic name of "Mefenamic Acid" is the one given by dentists. It's really hard to get rid of the pain. I have braces too and the situation you are describing happened to me before. What I did was nothing. I just leave it alone and after days it will sure be gone. Just eat soft foods. just don't think of it :) have something fun to do which will make you forget all your burdens :)

Call your dentist. They might have made things a little too tight. They can only go by what you tell them because they can't feel it.
I use Aleve for a painkiller. For me it works the best. You might want to try it instead of Advil.

That happened to me too. Two things- one is swish with ice cold water. The second is, think what a knockout you will be with straight teeth!

put Anbesol or any other tooth pain remover gels on your gums. It should help a little, since it numbs it a bit.

try ibuprofen...also gum. i know they say don't chew gum with braces but the it helped me...also rugging your gums with your finger, and finally rotating heat and ice to wherever it hurts.
good luck
