Why don't you let your wife keep the dog? That's pretty heartless of her if she refused to keep him and now you have to give him up.

You could get in touch with Labrador rescue, the RSPCA or local vets should have a phone number for them, Labrador rescue will make sure you dog goes to a good home and be really well looked after, so sorry you have to give him up, I so feel for you, but life changes at times and both of you have to move on, good luck.

If neither you nor your ex can keep him, take him to a rescue. Whether an all breed rescue or a labrador rescue. If you're in the uk, this link will help you to find a rescue:

A cat-friendly, child friendly dog will probably be rehomed quickly by an experienced rescue. Unless you're experienced in that sort of thing, don't attempt to re-home him yourself. Rescues will be better placed to make sure that he gets a good home.

Look online for Labrador Retriever Rescue there should be a rescue chairperson in your state! They will help you with housing the dog and finding you a good home. One of their volunteers should be able to take the dog asap until they find the right home.
Punch it into the search engine: Labrador Retriever Rescue group...Also try Petfinder!! Punch in Petfinder... the groups are listed on there also and if you check the classified section...People post adds who are looking for pets and I think you can search by state.

If you walk him before and after work, at his age he ought to do okay in the flat. Mine are always happy to see me at day's end. It was okay when I only had the one. both lab mixes.
I personally could not give up my mates for life, for that is what it is... a friendship, a relationship for life. Woman come and go. A dog will remain loyal!

I wish I could have him but I'm a bit overcrowded with dogs as it is. Take him to a rescue home - Blue cross, PDSA, RSPCA - he sounds gorgeous and should find a new home in no time. Good luck and sorry you have to give your friend up xxx

Your best bet is a no-kill shelter, where the dog will be looked after properly and kept until he is re-homed. Visit the shelter before you take your dog!
