First check with a professional (physician). You may be able to call any hospital hotline or the local children's hospital in your area to see if it is safe.

I don't expect it to ok because Ambien is an adult dosage for sleep disorders.

Even if you get an answer stating that it is OK, you need to look into it further because the child is seven (7) and it is normal for kids to have a lot of energy and not want to go to bed. It is not good to give children a lot of medicines because we do not know the long term effects.

Looking at the side effects and information about Ambien, I would look into this immediately. I have included a link to the Ambien CR side effects site.

As a responsible parent, you need to look into this to protect the health and well being of your child.

MC.

Sleeping pills for such a young child? I would be concerned too! I have 3 children 2 are grown, I have never had a reason to give them a sleeping aid, ever. As a parent I would question this and find out exactly what is going on.

Good luck

Have her tested. Her urine can be tested and so can her blood.
NO way should a 7 year old be taking ambien.

You should be concerned over any medications that aren't precscribed for you daughter being given to her! Please find out if she is giving her drugs like this and if she is remover her from the situation until you resolve it. Most 7 year olds don't need sleep aids....if they're out playing hard and using all that energy we know they have, they sleep quite well.

Absolutely NOT! The only reason the child should take anything like that is if the child's doctor prescribes it for her. I don't see why a doctor WOULD prescribe that for a child though. Good luck.
