No way. My hubby is 8 years older than me and we are very happy and have been together for 8 years. Age doesn't mean anything. It's just a number.

It comes down to your age. If you or the other person is like 14 and the other is 21, then YES the age difference is TOO BIG. BUT if one of you is 21 and the other is 28, then this is a bit more acceptable.
