My husband works in a swimming pool and the showers there develop this layer. It's actually an accumulated layer of oils and fats and skin cells that slake off as we shower. It takes a long time to build up, and a good natural cleaner with a cirtus base (orange, funnily enough) will get rid of it.

Rust, caused by the reaction of iron compounds on the curtain rod with water. This is the orange colour.
Mildew which is blackish-green, a build up of bacteria, etc found on tiles and curtains......yuk!!

I get the same stuff although mine's pinky. It's definitely not filth as the bathroom is kept clean however there's not much ventilation in the bathroom and I think it develops when I don't dry of the bath/shower after it's been used. We have soft water so there's nothing much in the way of limescale or anything, it's just this horrible red mould. It looks awful against a white bathroom....

The bulid up from soap and shampoos. Try throwing your shower curtain in the washer on gentle cycle with fabric softer regularly to avoid build up.

Anywhere you have water you get this. It is not a sign that you are not keeping things clean - you just need to get rid of it when it appears. For your shower it can help to use one of those special shower cleaning sprays after each shower - they slow down the growth. Places like Tesco sell their own version which works fine and costs less than named brands.

it is iron/chemicals that builds up from the water and pipes. Doesn't look great but is not really filth. Even if you wash shower curtain it lives on because it discolors.

hi Skye, For towels i might choose colorations of the two Peach or Cream to a creamy yellow shade. clarification for this may well be to soften and heat up those cool colorations that are interior the bathing room! happy adorning.

It's a combination of soap, body fat and oils from your skin ! It also attracts mold growth if you don't clean it off pretty quickly !
