in opposition to tolerance of laxness on border and immigration enforcement? Will a democratic Congress provide for effective enforcement of US immigration laws, continue construction of the US/Mexico border fence, or conversely will there be heavy promotion of amnesty etc?

The people spoke and put the democrats in, they have their work cut out for them trying to fix in 2years what took 6 years to create but yes the people will continue to be heard because simply put the democrats realize it is their chance to show the american people that they are listening else in 2008 a democratic candidate will have no chance.

The voice of the people will continue to be heard. It always is. The question is: what will the government do about it.
Stopping illegal immigration and controlling the borders are still the responsibility of the Bush Administration. Because of the separation of powers, Congress cannot compel the President to do anything.
The President has heard the voice of the people, and he is not stopping the illegal immigration. He keeps saying protecting the citizens of the US is his number one priority.
Liberal democrats apparently see the illegals as potential democrat voters and thus have little incentive to stem the tide.

I doubt it ! Remember that many democrats are against Amnesty ,as well as Republicans, but propably they will strik something more like a guest worker program ,but for those who could proof at least 3 years of residency, never broke the law or commited any fraud & has someone to sponsor them. This might happen by the middle of next year.

Bush clearly hopes not, and the restructuring of frightened business interests to bond across the isle with their Democratic globalist counterparts (at the exclusion of populists on both sides) is almost amusing, if they weren't so damned facile about it.

In the globalism v. populism war, granted that globalists control the Republican Party treasury, does that explain why non-incumbent populists weren't supported by the Party? Should we be readying checkbooks for 2008?

I note that the Democrats came close to Republican spending this year. I have read that that was due to the Internet giving of people who gave less than $200 but were able to channel it with ease.

Interesting development, if you ask me.

We also need to stop giving citizenship to babies born to illegals.
They should be given a provisional birth certificate and not get citizenship unless there parents do. For every set of illegal parents being fruitful and multiplying we will be out numbered in 20 years. America will become the Mexican Annex.

What do you mean "continue to be heard"? As if Bush and the Republican majority Congress ever listened? The only listening they've ever done is in focus groups --to figure out how to manipulate the voters.

they will do ever thing in their abuse of power to make it legal for illegals to get your rights thrown out the window and replace yours with their culture---your taxes will increase( that's all they know ), they will increase their own paychecks , and pass more laws to help the minorities take away your culture and history -- history will be repeating itself-----and you will be the kid headed step child- giving more and receiving less-- its their democRATic way

Continue to be heard?

You mean BEGIN to be heard.
