Why is there such a big stigma towards ALL Christians?

Why is it that in any discussion forums that I go through, all Christians are being blasted for just about damn near everything? Don't you think that saying that "Christians are this way," is stereotyping them? If you think about it, there are a lot of Christians out there. And a lot of them are good, honest people. Just because you may have an encounter with an overzealous evangelist saying you'll go to hell, doesn't mean everyone thinks the same way. It's unfortunate that the most vocal Christians are the ones who are preaching fire and brimstone. The most silent ones, are the good ones. A lot of Christians happen to be very open and accepting. I happen to have a gay friend, who I don't think is going to hell, because he is a nice person. I believe in evolution. I welcome other beliefs. But why is it, that I still get lumped in with the preachers and televangelists, who clearly don't represent me? Why is it that I am under attack, just for being a Christian?

It pains me to see that I didn't get a real answer to the question, but just more examples thereof. You say that Christians have caused the world a lot of suffering. I ask you? Did I personally cause that suffering? On that note, should caucasian Americans be told that they are ignorant and racist because of the slavery over a hundred years past? My question was: Why am I being stereotyped as an ignorant and arrogant? That I have been answered with more stereotyping does not address the question. My question was, why am I being judged because of my religion, and not as a person?

On a side note, I think the quiet Christians ARE the good ones. Just because we have to do God's work, doesn't mean we have to preach on a high pedestal. Mother Theresa never had to take a loudspeaker and yell. And If you say she was not doing her duty, then we differ in opinion. We as Christians should preach through our deeds. Not with our mouths.

Every religion is under attack by somebody, or some group... not just Christanity... so get over it. Just believe in your religion,,, and quit crying about it. People will always talk about what you believe in. Get Over It.

First of all, I do not believe that there is a widespread stigma against all Christians. You can be stigmatized by certain people for certain reasons. That is the way of life. You cannot change it.

Some orthodox people who have have strong feelings about what is "right" or "wrong" according their religious beliefs will not tolerate your lifestyle.

I am not a Christian but I have attended church prayers many times, Catholic churches during my school days and Protestant churches, later on. I have never found felt any reason to hate a Christian..

I'm a Christian and this is a dumb question. How in the world can you be a Christian and believe in evolution? How can you believe that your gay friend is not going to hell? Do you read your Bible? Just because he is a nice person isn't going to get him to heaven. Your thinking does not fit their lifestyle, simple. You represent a fruitful and blessed life, and they do not want that, they want to do what they want. Also to say they have to pay for it, is just too much for them - They would rather say, I can do whatever I want and no one is going to stop me. I would be jealous of those that are happy, and they do not even have a clue why they are depressed and we are happy. So just go ahead and pick on us, but in the long run, you will lose.... just wait and see, you need to clean up your act and also your thinking I beieve that is the problem with non-believers, they are jealous of the Christians because the Christian belief is one of inspiration and happiness, and a non-believer has to alway try to prove the Christian is not right, and also happier than they are.
