"English Learner", you are absolutely right. Why did God become human and punish himself for our sins?
a) If you did something wrong to me. Why does anyone need to be punished? I usually just forgive the person. So why in Christianity, is there a need to punish someone...E..G. Jesus.
b) Jesus, was the incarnation of God, Who died for our sins. If you did something wrong to me. I then duplicated myself and then, punished my (duplicated) self. How does that effect the fact that you have done something wrong to me?
Sorry to offend any Christians out there. The Doctrine of Salvation seems overly complicated. The only advice I have is to think, in order to seek the truth. That is what I believe God wants. Blindly believing incorrect facts can not be right.

God didnt forsake Jesus.
Maybe you are talking about the words Jesus is recorded to have spoken from the cross:"My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me...."
If so, the best answer I have ever heard for this one is that this
is the beginning of one of Jesus' favorite scriptures, from Psalms.
That particular Psalm starts as if the author is questioning Gods
care, love, and protection, but later it says, in essence, that it is
the author's lack of faith that caused him to doubt, and that God had never forsaken him in the worst of times.

God didn't forsake Jesus, Jesus gave his life so that every individual can have a chance at serving God with a pure heart and in perfection.
If Adam hadn't sinned it wouldn't have been necessary

Jesus took on the responsibility of our sins, by allowing himself to be executed on the cross. Yes, we are still responsible for our actions. Jesus's sacrifice only works for us if we are truly repentant and do our best to be free of sin.

Yes we are responsible and we do accept that responsibility when we ADMIT we have sinned and that we know that Jesus paid for our sin and then accept HIS payment for our sin.
GOD did have to forsake Jesus because the penalty for sin is death..or separation. When our body dies, our soul is separated from it. Eternal death is to be separated from GOD forever. For the penalty to be paid...God had to forsake Jesus...but because Jesus is GOD, He was able to overcome death.

in the OT, it says something about everyone taking the responsibility for his own actions. Seems contradictory with the NT.
