God wanted a temple built in Jerusalem with ornate gold but perhaps we're talking about different gods?

Hi, we easily forget the division and discord that the devil sows among God`s peoples, and loves nothing more than setting one against the other and we keep falling into his trap.
actually Luther had a genuine complaint back then and could have been revered as a great Catholic teacher, but he lost patience when his case was proceeding too slowly and tried to do things his way, as a Dominican Priest he well knew the right way to proceed with his case but impatience and anger caused the Pope to chastise him and this he could not take and so he openly rebelled and started the run up to the reformation.
had the vatican however been a little more sympathetic to Luther`s complaints then things might be very different today.

Friend , the catholic church is NOT the body of Christ, they are so far away from truth, they can not see the light at the end of the tunnel, I do not speak against a person that is in that denomination But the system as a whole. They claim to be following the Apostles of Old, Then why don't the priest get married, They say they are following Peter, well Peter was married, & they also say they are following the Apostles Doctrine, No they are not, EVERY APOSTLE of Old Baptized in the name Of The Lord Jesus Christ, & also completely immersed them in water, Now the bible says that the anti christ will come that it comes from a city that sits on 7 hills, & Rome is the only city that sits on 7 hills. Think about it my friend.

More to the point...if one is really a disciple of Jesus..they will not hate anyone especially other believers in Christ.

Now we need to remember that the Church that the LORD talked about is not a physical building nor does it consist of everyone attending one of these buildings. Many of those attending the best of churches do not KNOW the LORD. Oh they may proclaim they are a Christian..but that does not make them one anymore then my saying I am a hamburger because I go to Wendy's. The link below will tell how to BE a Christian.

Many questions. Who says the Catholic Church is His body? Why not the Protestants, or the Iahovah's Witnesses, or Mormonism, or Standardized Modified Zoroastrianism 2002 Edition?

catholic

adjective

So pervasive and all-inclusive as to exist in or affect the whole world: cosmic, cosmopolitan, ecumenical, global, pandemic, planetary, universal, worldwide. See limited/unlimited, specific/general.

Maybe you meant the whole body of churches. That is what Catholic means in the broad definition. Did you mean only the Roman Catholic Church?
I don't believe Christians hate either one.

Remember, Jesus said, "tear down this temple and in three days I will build it back up again..." The temple, or church, He referred to here of course was not a physical temple, or a worldly institution...but it was a spiritual temple - to which both you (as a Catholic) and I (as a non-Catholic Christian) are members!

Let's rejoice in our unity through Christ....not divide over denominational issues.

Who told you that? The Catholic Church has been guilty of so many infractions that it would make many wonder why people are still affiliated with it. For instance: During the Dark Ages, the Church was responsible for keeping people in the dark about Bible teachings. It insisted that its church services be conducted in Latin, a dead language to most people. It resisted the translation of the Bible into the languages of the common people. If a translator was caught, he was tortured and then burned at the stake. If a person was caught with a Bible in his possession, he was burned at the stake with his Bible chained around his neck. In the church, its leaders are referred to as "Father". Didn't Jesus discourage that?

The Catholic Church tolerates priests who molest children. Instead of expelling those priests from the church, it just moves them from parish to parish.

The Church tolerates homosexual members.

The Church uses the cross in its worship, a pagan symbol that predates Christianity by thousands of years.

The Catholic Church delves into politics, although Jesus said his followers would be no part of the world.

Catholics go to war, even though Jesus said for his followers to love their enemies.

Roman Catholicism "countered" pagan worship by founding, in close proximity to former temples, churches dedicated to "Christian" patrons. Ancient celebrations were adopted and given a "Christian" significance. To express it in the words of La Civiltà Cattolica: "That some customs and religious observances of the early Christians were closely related to certain pagan practices and ways is known to all scholars nowadays. They were practices too dear to the people, customs too deeply rooted and intertwined in the public and private life of the ancient world. The mother church, kind and wise, did not believe that she had to uproot them; rather, by transforming them in a Christian sense, raising them to new nobility and new life, she prevailed over them by means that were powerful yet gentle, so as to win to herself without uproar the souls of both the masses and the cultured."

One well-known example of the adoption of a pagan festivity is, of course, that of Christmas. December 25 was, in fact, the date on which the ancient Romans observed the dies natalis Solis Invicti, that is, "the birthday of the invincible sun."

In her desire to win pagan hearts, the church therefore did not adhere to the truth. She justified the practice of syncretism, the absorption of heathen beliefs and practices "dear to the masses." The result was a hybrid, apostate church, far removed from the teachings of true Christianity. In this light, perhaps it is not so surprising that a former Roman temple to "all gods"—the Pantheon—should become a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Mary and all the "saints."

Would Jesus be a part of such an organization? No!

That's like asking how can people claim they love their country when they hate the country's government.
And, cbooth151, it's not like Protestants haven't gone to war and did the things Catholics on your list do. People are imperfect, especially people in the past! Jesus came not to create a perfect people (morally speaking) but to give people a way out of the endless circles of misdeeds, hate and revenge.

The non-catholic believers are according to se catholic, by foundation. Protestants etc got here from the catholicism. So adult males you do no longer loss your catholicity even you grew to become atheist. subsequently your salvation nevertheless relies upon even on your "as quickly as a catholic". Pax

Jesus's body is dead.

The Catholic Church is and has always been a perversion of everything he stood for.
Jesus would not have allowed ornate cathedrals built in his name, would never wear a ridiculous pope hat or robes of monarchy.

Catholics seem to worship his mother more highly than the man himself, they really love their idols, and seem only to care about Jesus in the context of a dead guy hanging on a cross- dwelling graphically and fetishistically about his suffering, torturous death.

As for what he actually *taught?* Who cares. Ask a Gnostic. We've got choirboys to fondle.
