Your stomach does not blow up, that is why humans have the ability to burp. BTW water and dry ice don't really react (it makes fog). You will however have serious internal injuries from the burns caused by the extremely cold dry ice. Dry Ice is frozen Carbon Dioxide (liquid carbon dioxide is the 'carbonation' in sodas). It's normal temperature is around -110 degrees F. This will cause severe frostbite anywhere it touches as you swallow it and in the stomach when it gets there and stays for a while. This would be extremely painful, especially since the stomach acids would soon atack the burned area, likely eating through the stomach wall, which would then allow acids and stomach contents into the abdominal cavity. Not Pretty at all.

No need for you and your mom to go into hysterics over the unknown scary chemicals! Lol. You will be perfectly fine. People use dry ice in drinks for cool effect - maybe I'll get some for Halloween. Heck, google dry ice drinks.

G'day Skyler,

Thank you for your question.

You wouldn't even be able to get it into your mouth. It boils at -78 degrees celsius. You need tongs or insulated gloves or both to handle it. If it did get into your mouth, it would give you a very bad case of frostbite because it is so cold. If swallowed, get medical help immediately It wouldn't reach you stomach. In the wrong circumstances, it can also be an asyphyxiant.

I have attached sources for your reference.

Regards

swallowing dry ice would be quite a (stupid) trick, it would freeze in the throat or esophagus and freeze/burn a hole, you'd probably be dead before the ambulance could get there.
keep dry ice out of your mouth.
