hi, both rear left and right calipers need to be changed, also the disk and pads, im tryin to find out if there are any "generic" type of brands that dont cost much but would fit that vehicle any 94-99, also i read somewhere that the brake calipers of Golfs are the same as Jetta's is that true? pls any help will be appreciated.

The two cars calipers most likely can be swapped. But usually all calipers can be rebuilt. Im sure you can buy a caliper rebuild kit at any good foreign parts store. It would be a fraction of the cost of new or even used calipers.

Yes, same as the Jetta. Just get a set of heavy duty from Napa. That what I do and they last between 60 to 80 k miles. I have driven for Domino's Pizza and a lot of stop and go. You can spend more for vented, but from what I have read, they don't last as long.
