Because it's infuriating the way that Christians act as if we haven't had the Bible revealed to us, or that we haven't seen how great Jesus is. I have read the Bible and studied Christianity and I am not a Christian (though I think the beliefs are nice, and would probably make me happier) because I simply don't think it is TRUE.
Kudos to the other religions for not arguing as much. I'm probably more tolerant of other religions also, because I haven't had as many attempted conversions from them!

Turning the other cheek does not mean we have to go away and keep quiet. God says we can come back and bring a friend with us:
"But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED."
Matthew 18:16
I submit to you that Atheists like to debate with Christians because they keep looking for validation of their lack of belief. They feel that if they chip away the facade of a believer, they will somehow find a closet Atheist underneath. Christians like to debate with Atheists because we feel as long as they are willing to listen to us, there is a chance for the Holy Spirit to work on them and change them from within. Your eternal life is too important for us to keep silent.
"This I command you, that you love one another."
John 15:17

The hindu`s and jews don`t go around cramming their beliefs down anyones throats. We Atheists ,as you say don`t BEAT Up on you .
We repel your nonsensical idea that everyone else is wrong and you are right. We do defend ourselves and others when it comes to your Nazi style of spreading the word .
The only word you have to spread is B*ll Sh*t!!!

Ever heard of the tactics skinhead neo-nazis in the US use?
They approach their intended victim, start name calling, insulting the person (it's _always_ a group of neo-nazis and a single victim), pushing the person, grabbing their body, clothes or possessions until the person lashes out.
Then the neo-nazis proceed to jackboot, stab, punch, or any other form of physical violence and call it "self defense" and claim the jew, black, gay or other person "attacked us!"
In case you can't figure it out for yourself, atheists *don't* attack christians. Rather, atheists are like the jews, gays and blacks being followed around by neo-nazis. The comparison is all the more apt since neo-nazis ARE christians.
You christians are the not the victims, you are antagonists who annoy and harass others, then whine incessantly when someone has the courage to stand up to you. Even one person who points out your hypocrisy is enough to send you cowering in fear.
Perry Deane Young (ex-republican, openly gay) was spot on when he titled his 1982 book, "God's Bullies", because it is exactly what many hypochristians are, cowardly thugs.

Here is a shocker. When politics and religion get brought up - things get heated. It's the way its been since the greeks got hot n bothered over the old "Zeus vs Apollo" debate. And it will keep going on.
When people post questions - others respond. I see jerks on both sides to be honest. And I would add that I think the Muslims get a lot of unfair treatment as well.

Because Christians tend to antagonize the Atheists. Though I must admit that it is fun to watch a bunch of punks beat a street preacher stupid.

Sometimes it hurts to know the truth. Dialogues are good if done with peace and quiet. This section is where the battle for faith or for sight takes place and sometimes it is messy. But it is up to the combatants to play their part correctly and with decency.

It is not that we 'like" to beat up on christians, it is just that some of their questions and attitudes are such that they just beg have their egos put into place.
