I dropped my checkbook at the doctor's office, and they called and said they have it there. Would you offer a reward to them? I don't have much to give, but I could give them $20.

i don't know what the proper thing to do would be....but here's my opinion....
i feel that if a business finds your check book you don't need to offer a reward because they are obligated to return it to you....also a checkbook is a little different than a wallet...if you had lost a wallet fulll of cash that is different than a checkbook which would give some-one less motivation to steal it...
if you truly feel like giving the dr's office a reward, why not give the whole office something....like a box of donuts or tray of cookies

A place of business is expected to return things left there. If a stranger had found it on the street, and returned it to you, then a reward would be nice. But in this case, I think a nice thank you card, or even a very sincere thank you is quite proper.

But if you feel you really have to give them something, and you know how many people work there, pick it up on a morning and bring them some muffins. Most people like those for their coffee break.

You really don't have to give them anything, though! Just thank them nicely!

I would close the account. You never know if they copied a check and now have all of your information. You never know if they took a check from the back of the check book. You just never know. Close the account. Say thank you and close the account. Also remember, who exactly found the checkbok. If could have been another patient that found it and did the right thing by hand it in. so by giving money to the person giving it back could be rewarding the wrong person. Anyway.....close the account.

Most people just like a thank you. But if you feel a reward is in order go with your heart. But if you need the money for a bill or something like food then keep the 20 dollars and I think a nice Thank You would do just fine.

If its a hot woman, I would ask her out and buy a present. Ha Ha

In your case, since its the doctor's office a sincere thank you would do.
Or else try thinking what would you do had you found someone's checkbook.

I would do what I would hope another person would do if I found their checkbook.

Just a thank you is all that I would hope to receive. The reward is doing that which is right. For those who live a spiritually based life understand the wealth that is found in that alone.

That would be a very nice gesture. Or, you could let that person receive a blessing for doing you that random act of kindness and just give them a heart-felt thank you. A very good question.

I think that whatever you give them might be an appropriate gesture, Sir.

However, considering that it's the Doctor's Office, they may just not accept it.

Have a nice day.

no dont offer a reward. maybe if it was a wallet or purse. especially if its AT the drs office. it just means you left it there- not like someone found it on the street.

if you can, then yes a gift would be nice, if not oh well returning the check book is the right thing to do and not to expect a reward.
