Hot water mixed with Lemon, Honey and a dash of whiskey. Or you can take both a paracetemol based flu drink/tablet as well as Ibuprofen to blow it out of the water. Vitamin C is still thought to work wonders. Chicken soup has been proven to have some effect (honest) and also Enchilada.
Some people take Enchilada all winter to ward off colds but on BBC news the other morning there was a health expert who said that it is more effective when taken at the beginning of a cold.
Also, all cold strains are different so each will respond differently and will build your immunity against that particular strain (which is why the elderly don't get many colds and babies do).
If all else fails, take it to the zoo.

I drink hot broth, hot tea with lemon, and occasionally Coca Cola, to cut the flim.
Brandy helps me sleep or a hot toddy.
The liquid stuff is mostly alcohol anyway, so why not have plenty of the good stuff?
The other stuff really doesn't do much for me, the over the counter remedies from the chemist.
By the way, interesting that we always have bad, rotten, or stinking colds. No one has ever had a good cold!

Have yourself some chicken soup. Drink plenty of fluids. Take Tylenol or Motrin for aches and discomforts. Unfortunately, we all just have to wait out a cold. Feel better soon.
