I feel slight pain in my throat area. When I wake up in the mourning I have alot of flem in my throat. I think its because I do to much weight. I'm 150 lbs male. I'm benching 250 lbs. Has anyone experience this problem? I would like to know what you did about it. Should I see a Doctor

I smoke once in a while. Once monthly for social reason. I haven't smoked over a pack if you were to add all I have smoked in my life time.

Do you smoke?
Ive been a powerlifter for about 12 years, and im 5'10" 195 lbs and bench 385
squat 540 and deadlift 585.
I smoke a pack in about a months time, now and then and when I do or if I go for a few drinks at a bar, club, steakhouse and its smokey, I get flem when I lift, also depending on where you live right now is the best time to have crud in your lungs, people coughing, sneezing and sniffles, if you sniff and don't blow the snot goes in your lungs thus exerting heavy loads will cause it wanting it to come out even more.
This has nothing to do with doing to much weight or endurance,
don't hold your breath thru the lift, you do know that you need to inhale on way down and exhale pushing it up right?

Do you have allergies? Also, have you ever been diagnosed with asthma? Perhaps there is something in your room, or house, or heating/cooling vents that trigger allergies and you wake up flemmy. Also, if you have asthma then when you're benching 250 you are either working congestion out of your lungs or you are experiencing exercise induced asthma. Unless the cough really is due to benching too much weight. Yes, seeing a doctor is a good decision, and be sure and tell the doctor everything (write notes if need be) so the doctor can diagnose you correctly. Good luck.

You should see a doctor as soon as possible. Reduce your weight a lot. You should always lift a weight that you can press 12 times without strain After 1 month, you can try and increase the weight 5 pounds. Always use this method of training because it is safe.

Go see the doctor about it, and don't jump to conclusions it could be something minor from a sore larynx caused by the pressure that is channeled to the throat when you bench press...if you are having a lot of phlegm in your throat it could be a cold....do you smoke?...if so this could be a big contributor to the phlegm in your throat....but speak to your doctor that's your best bet.

Large weight isn't the answer.....endurance is. You've not allowed your body to "understand" endurance if you will... it happens when smaller guys want to be big. Your capillaries on the wall of your lungs are being strained and causing a slight of infection, a sort of emphysemia if you will. You need to lower your weight, lengthen your work-out and make sure you put an aerobic work-out within your regiment to build the ability for your lungs to strain. good luck.
