A humidefier would help. Also, saline solution in the nose and then suctioned out helps. Pedicare makes even infant cold medicine. See this link:http://www.askdrsears.com/html/8/T089800.asp
If he doesn't get better, see a doctor soon! Good luck!

What I do is:
First give him/her some tylonel plus cold medicine (for children) Then take a bath with the infant, like literally sit in the tub with him/her with the shower on too! make it real steamy in there. Try to stay in the tub for like 30 minutes, then before I get out i get a wash cloth and wet it in the shower and try to clear the baby's nose out as much as I can, and even breath in and out , make a game of it:) Then when you get the baby out, dress the baby in warm comfy clothes and give him/her a bottle, or if not rock him/her to sleep.
I would do this for a few nights.
PS. I always take one of my 3 boys to the hospital when i get scared, but more often than not i get sent home, and they tell me to steam the bathroom and sit in there with him, LOL

give him juice, he needs the vitamin C, water to flush out his system, a humidifier with Vick's in it so he can breath better, put just a little on his chest, ,,,,the best "Raul of thumb" is....feed a cold and starve a fever.......try your best to get him to eat, but right now very little milk, ,,,,,more juice and water, you can also give infant dime-a-tap....children Tylenol, but the Doctor you took him to should have gave him something.....

Your doctor is right. There is no cure for the common cold. There are however, medications to help relieve the symptoms. I prefer to stick to tea such as herbal teas.

Keep the baby hydrated and comfortable-it's a virus and your body just has to fight it off. No way to speed it up.
