my dad itches constantly around the neck and lower back. Is this a side effect, allergy, the result of hard water, or simply the stress of being 87? The dermatologist doesn't seem to know.

Carol: try getting him a prescription for Mometasone Furoate creme or lotion 0.1% this should help or if you can't Hydrocortosone 0.01% over the counter. I like the creme it stays on better. Use 2 cups of Epsom salts with a warm bath water, if he could than rinse with the shower and turn the water slowly to cool before getting out to cool the skin down, sometimes this works. Don't cover to warm at night, cool the skin, keep this in mind, cool.

you can always take a benadryl but I find that gravol(anti-nauseant) to work the best. Gravol is classified as anti-nauseant but can actually work as a strong antihistamine.
