he was saying Engine Mount. It's what holds your engine in place. and p.s. vw and cadillac are two very different cars.

For Alien:
The VW Caddy is a small commercial vehicle sold by VW in Europe. Its name is nothing to do with Cadillac, but rather to do with Golf - the original Caddy was a pick-up based on the Mk1 Golf (Rabbit in USA). In Golf a caddy is someone who carries the clubs for a golfer, so it was an obvious name for a version of Golf that carries things.
The second generation Caddy came in two versions: a van/kombi based on the 1993 Seat Ibiza (which shared part of its platform with the 1994 VW Polo) and a pick-up based on the Skoda Felicia.
The current, third-generation Caddy is a van or kombi based on the Touran mini-MPV (the Touran is based on the current Golf platform).

He means an "engine mounting". One of the brackets holding the engine in is damaged or the rubber mounting is perished. Other than a mountain of rubbish in the boot I don't think you'll find a mountain anywhere else in the car.

If its a noise that comes especially when moving off in 1st and at low speed then it could well be the mounting bracket. Shouldn't be too expensive to replace.
The engine mountING is a bracket that fixes your engine to the chassis of your car. It will have a bit of rubber as well to cushion the movements of the engine.
Be warned tho - it will make a similar noise to a driveshaft going.

Yes, those saying mounting must be correct.
Otherwise called motor mounts.
The garageman must have cut off his "G"
Engine mountin'
would sound like
Engine Mounting.
The Character Lord Peter Whimsey talked like that. It was one time quite stylish to do this cutting off of the g on any ing endings!
yes, these are usually rubber inside metal, depending on the engine, and, I think, two or three of them on most cars.

It's engine mounting not mountain. I had that problem with a mounting some years ago and had to have one replaced....not a serious problem....though it gave me a bit of a fright when my car started "jumping and shuddering"
