Oh my God can I tell you about those exact cupboards......Well where do I start? I personally painted mine, and let me tell ya those lovely laminate, shiny, NEVER dulled cupboards took me three days just to sand them all down and prime them. THEN.....I had to put two (could have used 3)coats of paint on them. OOOOOhhhhh they look good, but God help me if I EVER do that again. It's painfully exhausting. But I have to admit they turned out beautifully and no they don't look cheesy, especially if you take the time and do them right. I guess it's going to boil down to how much effort you want to put into them. Good luck, and just a little advice.....stretch out before you start.hehehe

Painting cabinets is very tough to do and make them look good. I would recomend replacing them or atleast refacing them and adding new doors. if u do decide to paint i would sand with 220 first primer with Kilz all primer let dry then sand smooth with 220 grit sandpaper again then apply a enamel paint. i found that sponge rollers apply the paint pretty smooth. for the best value well custom cabinets would be the best but they will cost u a lot of $ .so good luck

You could try the cheapest way- painting first. Then if you don't like it you could buy new doors and a new laminate kit and refinish the cabinets that way. If all else fails you can replace the silly things but that is expensive and I would only do it as a last resort.

A simple and inexpensive way to redo the cupboards is to replace the doors. There are several companies specializing in this and it doesn't cost much but it looks like new cupboards.
Good Luck!

You need to look up sites online about the best ways to increase the value of your home, if your goal is to sell the home soon. Check the AOL coach Barbara K's discussion of a kitchen makeover at the link below. There are a lot of good suggestions about updating and increasing the value of your home on the site. Barbara's first page is at this link: http://coaches.aol.com/how-to/barbara-k/main
The one about kitchens is below.

Painting is a great option, sanding first, and updating the hardware really makes a huge difference..

I would paint them and put some neat knobs on the outside and maybe a cute stencil that matches the kitchen. Have fun!

If you have a small kitchen, you need lighter colours to make things look bigger. Darker colours are suitable for bigger kitchens.
I'd paint them first, it's the cheapest option, if that doesn't look good try other options.
