God was speaking to the Trinity. The word God in the Hebrew language implies plural yet still singular (kinda like saying one family). There is only one God, but He is 3 distinct beings - Father, Son (Word), and Holy Spirit

Until recently, the word Elohim was used in the bible. While the 2nd poster has given quite a bit of information, he leaves out 3 important details:
Christians are the only groups who translate the word to mean the trinity.
There is a tendency in Hebrew tradition to use the word as plural, in the sense that god is so powerful, he can only be described as plural.
Most scholars tend to translate the word to mean "pantheon" or "brethern"...either of which would imply more than one god, or beings that are equals.

God was talking to his son Jesus who is the firstborn of all creation. God being the alpha n the omega has always been and always existed. But Jesus was God Jehovahs first creation and together everything else came into existence. Col. 1:15. I like the way Prov. 8:30 describes Jesus as a master worker working alongside his father. Beautiful!

Not the trinity.
When the God said "us" , he was referring to Himself and to the angels who were created before anything.
"our own image", refers to divinity.
As everyone knows God has no image as He is a spirit, without bones and flesh.

i have always believed in two entities the Father and the Son...
they have always been and always been together...
i personally dont believe the holy spirit is a sepeate entity..but many disagree... i think there may be a very minor translation error--- " and the Word was with God and the Word was God "
should be "and the Word was with God and the Word was (A) God .. i always thought of it like God (the Father) made all the plans and the Word (Jesus) ..made it happen with the power of His Word... I believe Jesus has walked among us before He was Jesus..consider Machelsadek... "a priest of the highest order with neither mother nor father nor number of days" ... even Solomon the greatest King of all tithed to Him... just food for thought

God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit make up the Trinity. That is the "us" you are asking about.

Great question. US is Father ,Son and Holy Ghost. We are spirits and spirits can never die. His image is LOVE. Adam changed that when He didn't kill the snake and disobeyed God. Now we have to be born again to be like Him..We get born again in our spirit.

you are not the 1st to ask. Look, we have man and woman, God-M talk to God-F, OK (nothing disrespectful) The image of man is different to that of a woman.
