"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. "

No we should not rejoice when Christ is mocked...... notice that scripture states that you are blessed when people insult YOU...... you should rejoice when they mock YOU.... because they dont mock unless your following him. They persecuted him for believeing and doing what he did..... and when we believe in him.... we will be mocked.... the world will always mock believers.... but according to Christ we will be blessed for it and great is our reward in heaven.
Rejoice because by mocking you they are saying they see the resemblance of him in you...... dont rejoice because they are lost and mock the only one that can redeem them.

God bless you

Let's say for argument's sake that all spirituality is bull. None of it actually exists.

Does it matter? no.... not really. It functions as a sort of reference point to life - all of it - christianity, buddhism, hinduism etc. It's a known fact that spiritual people are happier than atheists or agnostics.

so - at the end of the day it doesn't matter if it's bull - it makes people happier, more peaceful.

To answer your question no - we shouldn't rejoice. It's blasphemous and it disrespects the beliefs that people are entitled to have. Beliefs that bring them comfort. It's a violation of human rights.

I may disagree with your beliefs and opinions but I have no right to mock you for them.

No, no. We are to rejoice when WE are mocked for Christ's sake. Jesus can't be mocked, since He is one with the Father. As it says in Galatians 6:7,
"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap."
I think Jesus wants us to try to help those mocking people come to Him if we can. They need our help desperately.

When the idea of mocking silly superstition is a thing to rejoice in, then I suppose so. I can mock mother goose, the brothers grim, and Santa, Easter bunny etc. does it really matter?

I am saddened to see howmany disrespect Christ, after all he has gone through for pure love for humanity. I will stand up for my beliefs and be glad that Jesus is in my life. I know that I will be riddiculed for that belief, but this passage just reminds me of the reward I will receive when I stand firm and not let them tear me down.

You have taken that out of context.I hurt deeply when Jesus is mocked.I do not mock others beliefs. You very question makes the statement when "WE " are mocked ,not when they mock The Lord.

Christians [I am one] should rejoice when we are hated, moked, and or killed for bearing the name of Christ.

Our reward is in heaven.

God bless you and yours,

A Christian

Go for it. Whatever makes you feel special.
Rejoice or not, people will always mock Christ. He's just such an easy target.
