After years of reading and asking similar questions, I have come to the conclusion that people can fairly easily compartmentalize their belief systems. They can rationally understand that Santa, the Bunny, and the Fairy are all myths, but they can continue to go on happily believing in their god.
These people can be intelligent (or not) in many other areas of their lives and rational (or not) on most subjects, but they cannot make the leap to realize that their god fits in the exact same category as the myths listed above.
Family and culture do a great bit of reinforcing the myths for these folks and in so many cases there are severe "penalties" for even doubting the truth of the myths. Many people never get past that.
The myth reinforcement stops at one age or another for Santa and the others, but the reinforcement continues for people who believe in one or another invisible sky fairies.

It's called Faith.
Everyone knows that most of the other things are false. UFOs are probably a reality. Ghost seem to be an occurrence that has been witnessed by thousands of people so there is something there. Santa, Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy are entities created for marketing reasons and to make life and holidays more exciting for children.
God created everything that we are aware of. His teachings through Jesus Christ and The Bible have taught Mankind about morality. The 10 Commandments have established what is right and wrong and has allowed Mankind to become civilized.
This whole planet would be barbarian if not for our belief in God.
Try it.

There is no church dedicated to easter bunny....so no perpetiation of the easter bunny/santa/fairy legend beyond grade school.
UfOS and ghosts well anyone who claims to believe such is looked at with disdain but if you say you believe in god you are respected. Therefore belive in ghosts/ufos is not socialy enforced norm where as belief in god is.

well, we know for a fact that the easter bunny and the tooth fairy are completely fictional. However, we also know that a man named Jesus did live long ago and history backs up much of what the Bible says. Miracles have happend! Part of "believing" is having faith. If you have faith that the tooth fairy exists - great! I have faith that God exists. To each their own! I'm happy with my decision, just let people be!

Santa was, a man who gave gifts to poor children at christmas time. anything in the sky that is unidentified is a UFO. My mom was the toothfairie, and the easter bunny is just weird, lays eggs?!? ok...
I do believe in God. Because I am not too arrogant to think that I am the most supreme being on earth.

I don't believe in god, Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, or ghosts. But I do believe in UFO's.
People believe in a variety of things that appeal to them, which may contradict their religious beliefs.

there is no excuse that they do not belive in Saint Nicelas or the easter bunny or the tooth fairy.
They just have closed minds when it com es to God.
They also want to belive that Jesus was born on dec 25 when the records show that it was actualy five months later.

Because there is plenty of evidence to prove that God exists! Even Albert Einstein,...who began his early years as an atheist, became a deist,..after searching & knowledge led him to that inescapable conclusion!

Because alot of people can't handle the fact that they are in control of thier own lives. They like to have a "GOD" to blame, to honor, to serve etc. Those other things all have historical beginnings, but no one can trace back the beginning of the belief in God, so it's harder to disprove for some people.
