My brother is unable to wear a watch on account that they don't work. He will buy a new watch and within a couple of months, they stop ticking. If he buys a new battery, it generally breaks down in about a week. Any idea why this might be and what he can maybe do about it?

It could be traced to the high iron content in your brothers' bloodstream. My step-mom had that problem. She could only wear the kind of watches that were either kinetic or hand wound, and it had to have a leather band. Try this, if it doesnt work, don't give up.

That happens to my little sister too, so she has to buy a watch that clips on her purse or bag. It doesn't matter how cheap or how expensive the watch is, it will stop working if she wears it. I think it has something to do with their electrical output. Is your brother allergic to metal? I was just curious because my sister is, so I am wondering if there is any connection between the metal allergy and not being able to wear a watch.

I used to have the same issue. Someone told me it has something to do with magnetic auras. I don't know, it sounded like cr*p to me but stranger things happen I guess. I quit wearing watches for years then got a Times Expedition as a gift about 15 years later and it works fine...go figure.
