thank you all. i thought prednazone was a pain killer. but the vicodin didnt work either and i know that is meant to kill pain. i took 2 more about 20 minutes ago and drank a coke hoping the caffeine would speed things up and i still cant walk. its not a psychiatic nerve. i have been through that and know what it feels like. this is a severe lower back pain that is very uncomfortable even laying flat.

Sweetie, Prednasone is not a pain killer at all - it's a steroid drug used mostly for allergies, asthma and skin conditions. Do not take anymore of this drug. I don't know where or who you got it from, but it is not going to help a back injury. In fact, steroids can jack you up in many ways. It can make your blood sugar go totally out of whack even if you're not a diabetic, it can make you very volatile and hateful, not to mention, it will make you gain weight faster than 1000 burgers from McDonald's. Have you ever heard of "roid-rage" - well it is caused by using steroid medications and it is true - people get violent and mean on this drug. Unfortunately, it is widely used for the above mentioned reasons, only when there is no other solution, but to try to use it for pain is way off base and you are going to end up hurting yourself more than you already are. I think you need to head to the doctor and let him give you a pain medication that also has an anti-inflammatory in it - quit letting your friends or whoever it is giving you these drugs pretend to be doctors. Your headed down a dangerous path.

Prednisone is not a pain killer although it can reduce/stop pain by decreasing inflammation. Many patients with various forms of arthritis use it and find it's incredibly helpful for pain relief.
You should see your doctor. You'll want to make sure you didn't do anything serious to your back.
If you can, take a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory like Advil or Aleve and ice the area. Most importantly, rest until you can find out what is wrong.
Take care

Prednisone is NOT a pain medication. DO NOT take it without a doctor ok. Prednisone is a steroid. Since you are in pain and the Vicodin are not helping you need to go to urgent care or ER and get your back checked out to find out what is going on. When you get to the ER be sure to take along all the containers of pills you have been taking already so they know what is in your system.

Check here a very effective Sciatica Natural Treatment ( http://cure-sciatica.info )
Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication
I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen.
I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica.

prednazone is a steroid not a pain killer. It will reduce inflammation which will deffinitely relieve the pain in some cases. You may need a muscle relaxer. Flexeril is good but if you want over the counter go to an herb store and get valerian root.

Prednisone is a steroid, not a pain killer. If you can barely walk, best to go to an ED now w/someone else driving.

Actually, i believe Prednisone is not a pain killer at all, it is a type of steroid, i use it when i have problems with my asthma. This will also make you gain weight if you take if for a long period of time.
Prednisone is used alone or with other medications to treat the symptoms of low corticosteroid levels (lack of certain substances that are usually produced by the body and are needed for normal body functioning). Prednisone is also used to treat other conditions in patients with normal corticosteroid levels.
These conditions include certain types of arthritis; severe allergic reactions; multiple sclerosis (a disease in which the nerves do not function properly); lupus (a disease in which the body attacks many of its own organs); and certain conditions that affect the lungs, skin, eyes, kidneys blood, thyroid, stomach, and intestines.
Prednisone is also sometimes used to treat the symptoms of certain types of cancer. Prednisone is in a class of medications called corticosteroids. It works to treat patients with low levels of corticosteroids by replacing steroids that are normally produced naturally by the body.
It works to treat other conditions by reducing swelling and redness and by changing the way the immune system works.
Considering you have double dosed, you should really go to the emergency room, also it is not good to take lots of asprin with this medication. Even call a pharmacist and speak to someone for advise.

DO NOT double the dose of prednisone. It is not a pain killer. It decreases inflammation. Call your doctor's office or go to the ER for pain help.

Prednazone is not a pain killer. It is a steroid and anitinflammitory usually used for asthmatics or anyone with lung problems. You should not be taking them at all unless prescribed by a doctor.
