My boyfriend has a lot of fines for speeding and driving unregistered vehicles. He has all of his fines on an installment plan that i pay every fortnight. It costs $40 a fortnight and i only ear about $200 a week. He earns around $600 a week but never has a chance to pay the fines. I have asked for $20 a week every week so that i am not out of pocket but he just forgets. Now he owes me almost $250 and i need the money for a $100+ bill. I dont know how to ask for it back. Its not that he would get angry or anything like that but i just dont like asking for money. how do i go about this ?

He also will go out and buy new speakers for his car or new clothes for himself and i feel like coz im a student and cant afford anything i am missing out because of his mistakes (fines). And the worst part is he is still getting fines and hasnt learnt his lesson

Honey your not asking him for money your asking him to pay you back your money and I've been down that road. You just politely say honey are you gonna give me back that money because i have some important things i need to do and i need that money to do it or I'm gonna be behind.

If you can't talk about him about the money you are using to pay for his bills then whats the point. He messed up with his fines, its something he needs to take care of, or needs to pay you back. Sounds like he brings in some good cash, make him pay. If you can't work this out now, what will happen later on? Communication is key in each relationship.

You have to sit down with him and sort this out. Explain that you don't earn that much money and that they're his fines, not yours. Point out to him that if he has enough money to buy speakers, he has enough money to pay you back.
Alternatively, you could stop paying the fines, and when he asks why you haven't been paying them just tell him they're not your responsibility. Then sit down and explain it to him.
Either way, you're going to have to face up to the fact you're going to have to ask him for money, even if it is to pay for his own screw ups!
I fell into this trap with my ex-boyfriend, and two years later, he still owes me over $200 . I have now officially kissed this money goodbye.

Well duh...just tell him that you have YOUR bills to pay and could he fork over the money he OWES you. THEN stop paying his fines for him! He 's not going to learn responsibility by you handling his debts and he obviously didnt care even to pay them b4 so heck let him get picked up for failure to pay and sit in a jail cell for a few days. Might then teach him to deal with the things he has created

Everytime he gets paid, tell him to give you the money he owes you. Don't accept excuses. I'm sure he pays his credit card bills on time. Stop giving him money, he's an adult.

This guy is using you. You're under no obligation to pay for his fines. Did you pay with checks or money orders? I hope you did, so that you have proof that you paid for them. Dump him and take him to small claims court. He has no respect for you. If you stay with him, then you're an idiot. Sorry to be so blunt. There's no excuse for his behavior. Focus on school. This guy has nothing to offer you.

Come on now do you really think he forgets, no one forgets when thy old someone, and he makes more money than you so why are you paying his bill, you say he won't get mad if you ask him for the money,( Than just ask,) and you donot like asking for money, well their is something else wrong, and i believe he is using you and you are scare to ask for you money.

Just plain say Honey or what ever you call him & say you owe me $250 & I would appreciate that you pay me back asap as you need it because you have bills that need paying
& don't pay anymore installments let him pay them himself

Just borrow it back. Say, "Hey. This month has been really rough for me. You know with X,Y & Z hapenning things are beginning to get tight. Can you help me out. Would you be able to lend me $250?"

Simply go to him and say honey... you remember when I paid for (blank) for you? well I have this bill that needs to be paid and I don't really have the money for it, sooooo, if I could get the cash that would be great... after that, dump his free loading butt!
