When a Christian dies, their body remains in the ground--or cremated, or whatever. Their spirit does go up to heaven right away. They don't need the body because heaven is a completely spiritual realm. Well, with one exception; there's a human man named Jesus up there right now, who also happens to be fully G-d. So the spirit of the person gets to hang out in heaven, enjoying the out-of-this-world worship music (seriously...they've been singing some of the same songs for eternity and the music's so good that no one gets tired of it). They get to stare at some pretty strange yet freakin' awesome sights--grab a Bible and look up Revelation chapter 4.

Later on, when Jesus comes back to the earth, they will get new, superhuman bodies (dude...Jesus walked through walls and stuff after He got resurrected...). But that's another answer for another question.

Actually the Christian has died from the moment he/she accepted Christ as LORD & Savior..2Co 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. However when we leave this "tent" in which our soul dwells, we are present with the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5: 6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. 9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 11 Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences.

Good question. There are several thoughts on this subject. The Bible has the answer to every question you may have that we need to know to get to heaven. One thing I do know is that the Bible tells us that when Christ returns to take us home, He will meet us in the air and the dead in Christ (christians) will rise first and meet Him. Read 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 and this will give you some answers.

How about the sea of life. revelations. sounds like a peaceful place were souls wait and rest until the third comming of christ. But, look at moses and elijah obviously went up intoo heaven met jesus on the mountain when he transformed dazeling white.

the bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. NOw even a non beleiver when he dies is going to present with the Lord until judment and he will be thrown in the lake of fire. So yes the beliver gets to stay with the Lord for ever!
Evryone will meet his maker just not all will stay there, only the ones who love God!

I am not a Christian
i Belive as the mexicans do it is this:
"In our tradition, people die three deaths. The first death is when our
bodies cease to function; when our hearts no longer beat of their own
accord, when our gaze no longer has depth or weight, when the space we
occupy slowly loses its meaning.

The second death comes when the body is lowered into the ground, returned to
mother earth, out of sight.

The third death, the most definitive death, is when there is no one left
alive to remember us."

Christians believe that life is eternal. Life continues after death. The belief in Christian religion is that our souls continue to live on in either heaven or hell. God passes judgement on the past actions we have taken in our life.

LOL No, they wait in a never-ending line to get to talk to God. And once they get to the Pearly Gates of Heaven, they are asked why the Hell they think they belong there. Then, god looks at their record of sins and decides if they are worthy enough to be wearing wings. :P Hope this helps! hahaha

no,they won't!we'll go to Heaven if we're capable to go to!not just because we're Christians or whatever!if we do according to what God wants us to do,we'll go to Heaven, but if we don't we won't go there!there are lots of Christians who don't do as God wants,so they won't automatically float up to Heaven

when anything dies it returns to a "light body'. There is no death you just shed your soul carrier and return to your place of origin and prepare for your next step.
