There are so many people against the use of alcohol. But Jesus himself drank wine did he not? Isn't it a double standard to say that drinking wine is bad, regardless of whether or not it is used in communion? You hear people speak against wine and then as I said before they go to some all you can eat resturant and fill their stomachs to the max. Its a sin to be drunk but, that doesn't give the ok to fill your body full of junk food, or eating 5 plates off of the all you can eat buffet! Gluttony is no different that being drunk! Some say that it wasn't wine that Jesus drank at all. They insist it was grape juice. Well, thats not true. If there was no wine the word "drunk" would not have existed in the bible. And its all over the place!

Grape Juice and wine are not the same! You cannot get drunk on grape juice! To lie and say it was not real wine is like creating a new standard. Or changing the word of God. Communion is very inportant! If Jesus said to drink wine thats what I will drink.

there isn't anything wrong with drinking alcohol, per se. it has just become a stigma in our culture because if you overindulge, it becomes addictive, and that happens so often. i know a lot of christians that drink. i, personally, will never drink the stuff, but that is only because of its effects on society; not my religion.

Wow! Are you mad or what? Jesus drank wine period. Jesus made wine at his Mother's request-- a lot of wine in fact for a party even. You are right gluttony is sin like drunkenness. We are not to abuse our body because it is the temple of the Holy Spirit, so you are right--going back over and over and over at a buffet is like drinking glass after glass after glass of wine until you are intoxicated. Wine was very much a part of Jesus' culture and was used because much of the water was contaminated. I think one of the reasons church services use grape juice is so there won't be any hassles about giving wine to minors. So now that we have established that Jesus drank wine not grape juice and that gluttony is as much a sin as drunkenness, what else is on your mind. You seem really mad about something, can I help? There will always be hypocrites, Jesus wasn't a hypocrite . That is why we follow His teachings, not what man says. It says the false church, full of false Christians (hypocrites) will experience an everlasting bum trip--everlasting torment. So let God be the judge--their day is coming. It's good you are asking questions--stay open for the answers. .

It was real wine, probably date wine as that was the norm for his locale and time period. Real grape wine was from Gaul (modern France) and very expensive, only the rich had grape wine. Grape juice was not used as it could not be kept long without spoiling, especially in the desert. So, yes, Jesus drank wine, but it wasn't grape wine.

Grape Juice is wine. There is no proof out there that the wine Jesus drank would have been fermented.

Yes Jesus did drink wine, and there is nothing wrong with having a drink of wine with your dinner or a meal,in moderation, (Psalm104:16) says "Wine makes the heart of mortal man rejoice. but then in (1Timothy 3: 8 it says that a servant of God should not give of themselves to a lot of wine, so drinking wine in moderation is OK, but, in excess, it is not for servants of God to indulge in it excessively, so, one has to exercise self control in all things including the amount of alcohol consumed! as well as the food we consume that is in excess that as you say is also a sin.

He drank grapes of the vine. It wasn't fermented. How could Jesus have been perfect if he drank and got tipsy?
You probably won't agree but that is how I interpret it.
