Any home can be a wonderful home if you love it enought. I have lived in a mobil home once and it was really nice. I was in a small trailer park. Which I think is now called a manufactured comminity. HA HA. It was nice cause I did not have to cut the lawn, just plant flowers if I wanted too.
I did not like that I have a "lot rent" it was more then my mobil home payment. But there are places you can put a mobil home and not pay a lot rent. You could by your own land for one thing.
I have seen some mobil home that are WAY nicer then regular homes.

My husband and I sold our big 3 story house with a basement and bought a double wide mobile home and had it put on a large lot we bought. Our home measures 28 X 60 and we built a 3 stall garage and added a 12 X 20 foot deck on the back and a small 10 X 10 foot deck on the front. We absoluletly love our "mobile" home. It is so open and roomy. I wouldn't trade it back for my old house for anything. I don't miss the basement but you can have one if you buy your own lot.
I did have the faucets and the hot water heater changed before delivery to a better quality. I also had them change out the carpet in one room .The company you buy from will work with you and you can also order a home in your own decor.

well it has it's ups and downs.
the good part of a mobile home is they are generally inexpensive if you buy one used. don't buy one brand new. newer ones are overpriced for their quality. they are good for saving money because they are cheaper than mortgaging a house.
the bad part of a mobile home is they depreciate like a car. you can't build collateral or equity with a mobile home like you can a house. if you bought a used mobile home for $15,000.00, ten years later, it's blue book value will be under $5,000.00.
plus, mobile homes are so cheaply built and are not nearly as sturdy or durable as a house. one good storm can wreck it.
also, they are havens for critters. skunks, raccoons, rats, foxes, and many other vermin love to make their home under the skirting. and if you have skunks, you are screwed when mating season happens because males will spray each other over a female. and don't forget stinging insects like bees, wasps, hornets, and etc. they can easily build a nest within your siding and eventually make their way into your home.
my advice to you is if you want to buy a mobile home, do so. but only as a temporary solution until you can afford a house.

There is nothing wrong with it. Mobile Homes can be fixed just as nice as any other home. You need to get what you can afford. You can make any place a good home. Just make sure that you have a place designated for a storm shelter.

the disadvantage is that if you live in one and there are really bad weather like hurricane you have to leave it. but living in one is just like living in a normal home.

They are notorious for attracting tornados. I wouldn't mind if I lived in one BUT, I WOULD NOT live in a crowded trailer park!!!

If its yours, and you make it a home.. than I don't know what the difference is. It is all about what you are comfortable with.
