40 days ago I went to the dr bcuz my lower left leg & lower left arm were part numb. I had an MRI ASAP. The next morning at my results appt, they double booked me, so a dr quickly looked at my MRI, said everything was normal & to make an appt.

So today I had my appt. I told a new dr that I still had slight numbness in my leg, I have frequent tension headaches, & some blurry vision. I also told him I had went wakeboarding the week before the numbness & had a lot of bruises on my legs after. His final diagnosis was I had hurt a nerve wakeboarding & nerves take awhile to heal.

Yet when I asked him for a copy of my MRI results before leaving, he confessed that a "large extra-axial arachnoid cyst" was found in the "posterior fossa producing some mass effect on the cerebellum"...but he said often people have these and never know it. He said to come back in 90 days if I'm still numb. He wasn't even going to to tell me but knew I'd see the MRI results! What do you think? I'm scared!

If indeed it is a Cyst, there is absolutely nothing he or you can do.

There are 3 types of cysts:

Liquid Filled: these are usually on the surface of your skin, face, (Or ACNE). These can be popped, but will leave a scar if you do.

Solid: These are just minor infections and go away after a while.

Air Filled: These are a little more dicey. They often grown on the INSIDE of your body, such as nervous systems, blood streams, etc. They will usually go away from 2 - 8 weeks. However, if this persists, surgery MAY be needed.

Cysts aren't the end of the world. They are aggravating, but you won't die from it.

Hope this helps.

You could make an appointment to peer your GP for your possess - my GP is relatively completely satisfied to peer teens with out Mum in tow. Having mentioned that, I might be fairly unhappy if my sons would now not inform me anything like this! As mentioned via others, that is most commonly only a small cyst with not anything to fear approximately however it's anything you'll have looked at. Your surgeon will most commonly repair so that you can have an extremely-sound test, wholly painless, and the equal test mums-to-be have in their youngster. If you're fairly concerned approximately speaking on your Mum, assess out your neighborhood Youth Services - there's most commonly a board someplace at tuition wherein they have got main points. Our neighborhood Youth Centre has a drop in Clinic each week wherein you'll be able to see a surgeon or nurse, with out appointment, for something like this or birth control and many others It is a exclusive carrier so they are going to now not inform your mothers and fathers until you provide permission.

Get a second, or even a third, fourth, etc..., if you must. I've known several people who had to go to more than one or two doctors to get to the bottom of a medical issue. My grandmother went to three before she found one that didn't just consider her a crazy old lady. It turned out that she had ovarian cancer. Luckily, she didn't wait long in between finding new doctors, or she would have died. It had spread so badly that they had to do a complete hysterectomy, which can be quite dangerous for someone her age. I don't mean to scare you, but it's always important to make sure things are okay, especially if you have doubts about the first doctor. Take care.
