their is tons of stuff on the Internet about this look up hair removal. Everything I have read says it's an old wives tell that alot of people still think is fact. Hair growth has to do with your genes if your parents have very little body hair you will have very little body hair has nothing to do with shaving. I have also heard that if you continue to wax eventually your hair will come back thinner, this is also untrue, not even laser hair removal can make the promise of no more hair there. I am a very hairy person and their is not a part of my body I have not shaved (lol) I have never noticed any change in the hair as it has come back. I think most people think there is a difference cuz if you keep shaving you will notice when newer darker hairs are coming in. They would have come regardless of you shaving or not, but you probably would not have noticed because hair is already surrounding the new hair and it is blending in better. The way I look at is I have been shaving my face since the ninth grade (so 7 years) and I still cannot grow a full beard. If it where true all men would have extremely hairy faces that would like a rug. Some men spend there whole lives unable to grow a full beard but they shave their face everyday. And if this shaving made hair come back thinker wouldn't this help men who's hair is thinning before they go bald.

No. Shaving hair doesn't make it grow back thicker. It also doesn't affect the colour or rate of growth. The colour, location, thickness and length of hair on your body mainly depend on genetics and hormones.
After you shave body hair, it may feel coarse or "stubbly" for a time as it grows out. During this phase, it may be more noticeable — and may appear darker or thicker. But it's not.
( and that's from a skin specialist!)
No. This is probably the most common myth of shaving that many people have. It is not true that shaving makes the shaved hair grow back any faster, thicker, darker or more profusely.
Your hair is simply dead protein - not grass!
Shaving is an external process and therefore has no permanent effect on the rate of hair growth. Although there is an immediate increase in the rate of hair growth directly after shaving, this is followed by a decrease within the next few hours.
Shaving your hair won't make it any darker or coarser either. A hair shaft is darker and coarser at the root than at the tip, where it tapers to a point, and shaving or cutting it near the root may give the appearance that it i

No, but shaving cuts the hair at an perspective, making it appear to grow back thicker. It still grows at the equal price. Try waxing, which takes hair from the foundation and prevents the slicing at an attitude.

I've shaven my arms and my hair hasn't come back any darker no thicker. Keep in mind everyone is different, so it may grow back darker and thicker for you. I think if your thinking about doing it, just shave a small, hidden area on your arm and see how it grows back. Then you'll know from there!

I've shaved my arms for years. My personal experience has been that my hair has grown back much darker. It was blond-ish when I started shaving and now it's dark. When I let the hair grow out it does feel more coarse than before I started shaving. I don't know if the hair necessarily grows back longer... it just feels prickly when it does grow back because it's all the same length.

Not really, you are born with only a finite number of hair folicles. Your hair is as thick as it ever will be, but, the color may darken a little, but the length will grow back to about the same...Think of it like this, if just shaving or cutting hair made it grow, then there would be no need to transplant hair from the back of the head to the front, you could just take it from any place you wanted less hair and put where you wanted more!

If you repeatedly shave your arms no they wont grow back longer, or darker the hair on your arms will start to get less and less with repeated shaving and the hair will also stop growing insertion areas if you repeatedly shave them.

I shaved my arms once but I dont remember them growing back any longer or darker. I think that this is a combination of urban myth and individual growth patterns. Experiment. If you dont like it then wear long sleeves until they grow back after all its winter so no-one will question the long sleeves! And you can chalk it up to experience

Yes. Shaving...just like on your legs causes the hair to grow back thicker because it was pushed back...If it is not a big deal or very visible I would leave it. Naturally all women have hair but if it bothers you that much try a hair removal cream or waxing instead.
Good Luck!

Yes they will grow back longer thicker and darker. I know..I use an epilator on my arms. its a lot better. check out Braun's new epilator the xelle 5270 it works really good since it pulls the hairs from the roots.. causes the hairs to grow back finer.. and after prolonged use (just like waxing) your hair will slowly begin to not grow back
