Is this just one more of their double standards? They say "Leviticus 18:22 says homosexuality is an abomination, and that is in the Bible so we must live by it". But then you catch them eating some shrimp, or shellfish (Lev. 11:10), or wearing a cotton-poly blend shirt (Lev. 19:19) and they say "Well Jesus excused us from having to obey rabbinical law in the New Testament". Did Jesus only excuse the straight people from having to obey these laws? Was there any exclusions, because I can't find the exclusions in my text?

I think they think they have whipped the shrimp into its place. It's only the uppity fags that upset them.
Evangelicals and other Christ. Cons. have made gay the scapegoats for all that is wrong with America. It allows them to overlook the incredible national debt, poverty, homelessness, spousal abuse, global warming, escalating nuclear arms, etc.
They really do give Christianity a black eye.

A good solid answer to this would take more space and time than I have here. However, it is not that Jesus excused us from certain things and not others. We are not under the Old Testament Law since Jesus died on the cross. In Luke 23:44-45 as He was about to breathe His last breath, Luke tells us that "the veil of the temple was torn in two." This is referring to the temple built by the Israelites to house the ark of the covenant. Very specific instructions were given for the construction. One was that a veil was to be made that would hang at the entrance to the section of the temple that would house the ark. The contents of the ark represented the law of that era, what we call the Old Testament law. The tearing of the veil in two tells us that the OT law is no longer in force to judge us but Christ's death made that law obsolete and His new law became in effect. This was the new convenant, His voluntary sacrifice for us, so that we would have a way to God and salvation and not have to endure the suffering He had. His shed blood represents that new covenant (NT). As far as homosexuals, look in the NT at 1Corinthians 6:9-11 and 1 Timothy 1:9-11. This activity is included in the sins that will keep us out of heaven, unless we repent of them and change our ways, choosing to live as Christ tells us to. Some say this cannot be done, that they are "born" like that and they can't help it. Well, these verses disprove that because 1 Cor. 6:11 tells us that some of the people there in Corinth used to be like that and now they had repented and were faithful christians. It is not those that never sin that will be saved, but those that overcome sin! (1 John 5). Read all of 1 Tim chapter 1 and it should clear up a few things for you. God Bless You for asking. Oh, by the way, what's up with the shellfish and shirt?. This is a new one!

Because homosexuality is mentioned as sinful in the New Testament under the New Covenant (1 Corinthians 6:9; 1 Timothy 1:9)...and the dietary laws are abolished under the New Covenant (Acts 10).

Yes there is a double standard in alot of churches! But, I repectfully disagree that homosexuality is acceptable in the eyes of God. I went to a church where people would pretend to be Christians and when out in public they have a very perverse language. Gluttony (over indulgence of food for pleasure) is also a sin! And I have heard people preach against beer and tobacco and later they would be stuffing their stomachs to the max at some all you can eat resturant. Anything that becomes an obsession (other than God) is an Idol. Or like a "false God". You can actually make food your god! Just because people do not kneel down before a refridgerator doesn't mean that they do not worship food. Jesus himself drank wine! And no no no! It was not grape juice!! That Hog wash; it was real wine! Then some say that the wine was less potent than todays wine, well thats not true either! The wine was homemade compared to todays standards so I would guess that the wine back in Biblical times was actually stronger. Its just blind hypocrisy. Its when you become drunk that its a problem just like when you eat too much.

I know you'll just write me off as someone who makes excuses, 'cuz that's what you guys do to christians who answer your ignorance with truth, but I'll try anyways.
In the book of Acts, Simon Peter has a vision in which God unfolds a sheet full of food made from "unclean" animals and asks Simon to eat. Simon says that he doesn't put unclean things in his body. God asks who can call unclean what the Lord has made clean? This is just one of many instances of scripture in the New Testament in which dietary laws are relaxed from the Old Testament standard. On the other hand, homosexuality is condemned as immoral behavior throughout the entire bible, both Old and New Testaments.

^^^ what Jogong wrote is one place where God deems no thing unclean to eat.

Another place where it is shown is in Romans 14:20-21, well and the early part of Romans 14.

20Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall.

It pretty much states that all food is clean, but don't eat something if it is going to hurt your friend (because your friend thinks you shouldn't eat it). Don't make a big deal about what you can eat or don't eat.

If you want verses it can be shown that not only in Leviticus is it shown that homosexuality is an abomination in God's perspective, but in multiple places in the new testament.

The Church has the authority to make laws for the faithful in this age, and the church rightly condemns homosexual activity as being seriously disordered and gravely sinful.

You're right to point out that the old laws are no longer in effect.

The church did take the old into account when it codified the new.

Either way, it comes out the same.

Homosexual activity is always sinful, because any type of sexual activity outside of marriage is sinful, and marriage of homosexuals will never be a part of the church.

So, you are acknowledging that the Bible did state in Leviticus that homosexuality is an abomination. Ok, then I'll agree as a Christian that I should not eat shrimp. Now, lets both go and Follow the Bible.

Read Genesis 1: 31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

He have not made any thing BAD.

We are free from the Law of SIN AND DEATH by the LAW of SPIRIT.

Its not what man eats makes him unclean but what he think and act.

Read Holy Bible to walk according to the law he has given to man kind rather than criticizing its followers.

purely like no 2 gay each and every physique is the comparable, no 2 christians are the comparable. i've got confidence each and every be conscious interior the bible as reality, yet I also have a gay terrific pal, a gay co-worker and a gay kinfolk member all of whom i admire. it particularly is for God to decide them, no longer me. As a christian i'm meant to love others the way God loves me and artwork on my very own sins. So please do no longer think of that Christians (a minimum of no longer any i understand) do in comparison to or placed down gay people. i'm no longer asserting i think of being gay is what god needs, yet i do no longer do each and every thing or stay my existence precisely the way God needs the two, so i attempt to purely artwork on my very own courting with God earlier I attempt and tell somebody else a thank you to stay beautiful to God.
