Most base cabinets are 34 1/2 inches off the floor , so lets say put your first row of blocking at 33 inches (attach your blocking bellow this level).then your upper cabinets usually start at 16 to 18 inches above the base cabinets , so lets put another level of blocking at 54 inches (you can attach any under cabinet wires to this blocking) and another row at 7 feet or higher depending on your cabinet configuration . let me just add this, nows a good time to pull string lines at the top of your walls and the bottom and check to see if your walls need to be straightened . it will make your finish product look so much better . good luck with your project

The cabinets usually have a strip of wood inside the cabinet in the top 3-4 inchesthat you screw through and into the wall. So, if you know the height of the top of the cabinet and where it will go on the wall then mark if and add 2x4 or 2x6 nailers. Best to add extra nailers now than drilling a bunch of screw holes in your cabinet looking for the nailers in the wall. Use a good screw legnth too...maybe 3" or 3 1/2" screws.

How high are the cabinets? You could make an easy target and use 2x6 or 2x8 as nailers. Gives you a nice range, and is very solid. If the inside of your cabinets at the screw points don't match up with the studs, you can us a 1inch trim pc. on the inside of the cabinet for support. Stain to match, pre-drill, etc.

A major decision in your kitchen remodel is deciding on your cabinets. Granite is a natural stone product that is sourced from many different countries. It is a very strong product that stands up well to heat and abrasion. Prices vary depending on the country of origin with the more expensive granites coming from countries like Norway that have high mining and processing costs. Scarcity of a particular stone and the difficulty of quarrying are also reflected in the price. Cheaper granites come from lower cost economies such as India or Africa. It is often assumed that the price of granite is an indication of the quality.

Cabinets are usually hung at 7ft . up the wall. That means the top of it would be 7ft. from the floor. If you are putting up 2x runners. Make sure you install them between the studs and not over them.
You can also put a line on the cieling to tell you where each one of the existing studs are so that you can find them after the sheet rock is up.
