it seems like people need an invisible god.

when jesus was here, he was not only treated like crap from his own kind and other kinds, but his own father let him go through torture.

the same seems to be true with heroes. heroes are hated at their time, but become heroes much later in time.

so, are we just idealizing jesus like we do our heroes, but deep down inside we really hate jesus.?

and would god really be despised if he was visible, so we make him invisible and to our liking, just so we can not despise him?

it sounds like what you are saying is if Jesus was still here on earth today, would he be treated with respect or like crap as he was in his day? and would we just repeat the past and worship him after he is physically dead, now that he is not around to hold us accountable.

He would definitely be treated like crap.

If you read the gospels it is pretty clear that Jesus was nonviolent, nonresistant, compassionate and lived simply.

Just look at the people who have respect and power in this world and they are the exact opposite of having Jesus' qualities.

These people go to war....for stupid reasons..which is violence(jesus was nonviolent) and yet So called christians approve of this along with capital punishment and a variety of other violent means.

These people don't turn the other cheek. (jesus was Nonresistance). Despite the teachings of turning the other cheek, do the well-respected rulers and so-called heroes in our society really turn the cheek or geniunely forgive...of course not. people who love power usually don't.

Are these well-respected people compassionate? (jesus was compassionate). If they are compassionate, then how can so many people in this world let alone the wealthiest of countries still be dominated by so much poverty and homelessness. And why are there so many bitter divorces (which is also not turning the other cheek or forgiveness) and crime and corrupt leadership and so on....?

Are these Heroes of ours living simply? (Jesus and his followers lived simply, knowing that possesions corrupt and giving is love).
This is probably the obvious of all to answer and the one that most christians and others will not be willing to do. eventhough the gospels repeatedly warn of the worshipping of mammon and lost of heavenly rewards by having these things. This is one area that is the most emphasized in the gospels and the one area that is mostly ignored,...for obvious reasons.

So, would jesus be hated and despised and treated like crap if he were here today?. absolutely...and the evidence is that the one's who are most antichristain(christian being someone who is christlike and christlike being someone who follows a life as explained above)are treated the best in our society and the one's who are most christ-like are treated inferior.

And because of this antichristian worshipping that world socities do....they would have to take the real christ and turn him into an idea the same way that we turn human beings into celebrrties and worship him on our terms not his. Thus making jesus invisible even while visible.

God is visible He is just not hanging out where we are right now. Adam and Eve saw Him in the garden of Edan. They walked and talked with Him. They were sent out into the world after they ate the forbidden fruit and then they didn't have direct contact with Him any more. Jesus went through torture so that we could have the opportunity to get back to God again. If you think God didn't care what happened read about what happened right after Jesus' death. I don't hate Jesus and I think those who do don't know him.

No God is invisible and fills all time and space, and manifested himself as Jesus the Messiah and took the sins of the world on his back and bore the punishment so you and me would not have too! Its a love story from the God of heaven! And he test us by faith to see who really loves and believes his Word! But there is coming a day of reckoning called the DAY OF THE LORD and he will return and judge the wicked, all who rejected his son Jesus. The bible says that if you reject him you stand CONDEMNED ALL READY! Because you have not BELIEVED THE ONE WHO SENT HIM and make God out to be a liar! But if you repent and ask him to be your personal Lord and Savior he will send HIS SPIRIT INTO you and live with you and bless your life. You are the temple of the Living God, the invisible God, but he will pour out his invisible Living Spirit on you and you will know he is real! Thank you Lord!

If God was visible we'd probably invent invisible Gods whom we'd beesech to release us from his iron-fisted reign and terrible wrath.

we would either create invisible gods or go on like we do now...with money, power, sex, etc., being our gods. watch it happen during the millenium when we are living in the kingdom of christ.

kudos on your ability to think creatively.

God shows Himself in a million ways, but Spiritual things are discerned Spiritually. If I could only give you what I see. You could be as happy as I am.

If God were visible, we would be so intimidated we would not have the free will to choose harmony or disharmony. We, instead, would conduct our lives out of fear.

I am sure they would. Even with the invisible God, they pray to Satan, who is also invisible.
