Cocaine produces a sense of extreme joy by causing the brain to release higher than normal amounts of some biochemicals. However, cocaine's effects on the body can be very serious or even deadly.

When cocaine use is stopped or when a binge ends, a crash follows almost immediately. This crash accompanied by a strong craving for more cocaine. Additional symptoms include fatigue, lack of pleasure, anxiety, irritability, sleepiness, and sometimes agitation or extreme suspicion.

Cocaine withdrawal often has no visible physical symptoms like the vomiting and shaking that accompanies the withdrawal from heroin or alcohol.

In the past, people underestimated the addictive properties of cocaine. However, cocaine is addictive when addiction is defined as a desire for more of the drug, despite negative consequences.

The level of craving, lack of pleasure, and depression produced by cocaine withdrawal rivals or exceeds that felt with other withdrawal symptoms.
Primary symptoms may include:

Depressed mood
Fatigue
Generalized malaise
Vivid and unpleasant dreams
Agitation and restless behavior
Slowing of activity
Increased appetite
The craving and depression can last for months following cessation of long-term heavy use(particularly daily). Withdrawal symptoms can also be associated with suicidal thoughts in some people.

During withdrawal, there can be powerful, intense cravings for cocaine. However, the "high" associated with ongoing use becomes less and less pleasant, and can produce fear and extreme suspicion rather than joy. Just the same, the cravings may remain powerful.

Of course it can be deadly, any kinda drug can be. Don't really know what happens for sure when you quit, probably just still have cravings for it. I'm also pretty sure there are some permanent damages, depending how often and how heavy of a user the person was. You should just be able to Google cocaine and get some more answers. Good luck with your project!

Zed was pretty much spot on. UK cocaine is basically just New Era tablets, UK cocaine is only like 10% pure. All these people who snort cocaine and think they have experienced the maximum high cocaine can give, trust me, only the very few have. Pure cocaine will leave you sitting on a chair for 30 minutes staring at a wall, not being able to speak with your jaw swinging from side to side. Anyway, I doubt you'd have any permanent damage, you need to be snorting for months and months regularly before any permanent damage.

Call your public health service, explain that you are doing a project and they can not only answer your questions but give you pamphlets and booklets with tons of information that will be useful for your project.
The quick answer is yes, cocaine is a killer. Quitting is very difficult, and there can be permanent damage, depending on how long and how much a person has been using.

Cocaine can be deadly.
When you quit it is more of a mental withdraw than the physical withdraw you get with opiates(heroin).
Long term effects- Heart damage & Nasal Damage

Definitely not comprehensive but a start.
Take a look at www.erowid.com , you should be able to get plenty of info their.

Yeah if you take enough of it, and depending on certain factors, you can overdose on it. When you quit, you'd probably end up going through some serious withdrawals. Not sure about permanent damage, but I'm fairly certain that occurs to the nasal pasages as well as to other parts of the body.
