ok another mustang question. my car lacks power all of a sudden. i noticed it was throwing out all the gas through a torn gromit from the gas tank and the pipe where you put the gas, could this lead to lack of fuel pressure and therefore not enough gas being distributed or do you think it could be something else

the grommet you describe probably will not cause a lack of power the tank builds pressure for evaporative emission controls and will not affect drivability of the car, however this should turn on the check engine light on due to pcm seeing no pressure in the tank,if the light is on there is probably a code for the evap, and more than likely one or more for drivability,(i.e.) engine missfire,
or lean or rich codes if the grommet was torn due to running over something be sure to check wiring to fuel pump as it is also mounted in the tank,
hope this info will help

I believe it's something else. A leak before the pump, especially in the filler neck, should have no impact on the fuel pressure from the pump to the rail. It may cause low(vapor) pressure in the tank which could simulate a major EVAP leak and trip the Check engine light. I would repair the leak because it's a safety hazard, but I don't believe it is causing your problem. Depending on miles and maintenance, it could be a host of things from a tune-up, dirty injectors, fuel filter, MAF, weak coil pack(s), etc. If you have made any modifications to the car or had it serviced recently for anything engine performance related, you might want to start there. Good Luck.

i own a repair shop, and it will cause it to loose tank pressure but it shouldn't effect it the way you described it though, but it does need the pressure built up to run right so it may be whats causing it to run like that ,anyway you have to repair the leaking grommet on it ,so in the process you might fix your running condition also,,good luck i hope this help,s.
