actually. thta can hapen to any dog. dogs have very sensative emotions. My neighbor's son died. he had a puppy about 5 months old. the boy played with the puppy every day. when he died, the puppy just layed there, only sleeping for 20 minutes at a time waiting for the boy to come home and play with him. the dog refused to eat or drink because the boy was the only one who had ever fed him. Then, after 2 weeks of waiting, the heartbroken dog died of dehydration and starvation.

I don't really know, (I'm not being smart,) would you die of heart ache? Dogs are VERY close to their owners, so, if your parents abandoned you, or your lover died, would you be so unhappy that you wondered if the only way to solve your piercing pain is to either forget them compleatly almost as if you never met them, or take your life away so the pain won't be too unbearible to forget, because even you can't forget the past. (No matter how hard you try).....No I'm NOT Goth, just very poetic. ^_^ And I don't know if it's the Cocker Spaniel, do you have one or something? ^_^

Any dog can die from heart ba=rake...they have feelings just like we do.... they just cannot verbally express theirs..... My maltese will not eat or drink if i leave her...And YES cocker spaniels are one of the worst breed dogs to grieve..... Any dog that is completely attached to their owner(s) will grieve for them....

i would believe all dogs are like us,they have feelings also. as far as die from heartbreak, i wouldn't think so. they will get depressed and need some special attention and tender loving care. my 2 dogs were collie mix, and one had a leg operation and was asleep for awhile, and the other just laid around untill the other got better. so sweet. just love it.

No . . . but dogs can go into Depression when a loved one dies. If he or she is also sick or elderly at the time the depression could send them further into their illness and they lose hope, and die w/o putting up a fight.
