In Georgia, your car is considered an extension of your home. You can keep a concealed weapon in your car unless you are going someplace you aren't allowed to have a gun. Example: on a military base where you do not either live or work.
Keep it out of sight, but be careful. The gun should not be in plain sight...that causes problems when pulled over, or when others look into your car. It also means a heavy, loaded gun will be loose, flying around in your car if you have to stop suddenly, are in a wreck, etc.
Keeping it in the glove box can make for trouble if that's where you keep your proof of insurance and tag receipt. If pulled over, hand your driver's license and pistol permit to the officer, keeping both hands in sight. Tell the Officer that there is a gun in the glove box, and that's where your other paperwork is. The Officer will let you know how they want you to get it for them.
Or, simply keep the paperwork and pistol in separate places, and avoid the entire problem.

I'm not sure about Georgia, but in some states to keep it in the car you also have to have a concealed weapon permit, which is a little different than the firearm permit.

Aside from being stupid and unsafe, Most states you must have the ammo in an area that is not easy to get to and the firearm must be in another compartment. In Colorado you can get a ticket or even have your weapon taken if it is loaded and in the vehicle unless you have a concealed carry permit.

If you have a GA carry permit, you may carry it in your car loaded. That is what a carry permit is for.

I live in Georgia- Why do you need a loaded gun?
Anyways,
I am pretty sure if it is loaded, it has to be in case and in the glove box. Essentially it has to be two steps away if it is loaded.

Call your city office and asl for a copy of the laws and such or just ask them bluntly. And while you're there, ask about road rage classes, sheesh....
